Asva is a supergroup spreading a contagious disease of creative music. Formed in 2003 in Seattle, Washington. This band is a collaboration between members of Mr. Bungle, Secret Chiefs 3, Sunn O))), and Burning Witch. 'Northsix, Brooklyn 4.20.05' is fantastic, go ahead and ask him if he's got any copies left.

You people should also check out Ligeti, for example his Cello Sonata (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrVagXdfnbc) or Lontano (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2OQbA3r78M). Hint: turn the volume up!

I'm currently working on a collaboration with Joel Phelps (Silkworm, Downer Trio) that some of you might like. Here's a link to our first sort-of-finished-but-still-rough song. http://soundcloud.com/gsdahlquist-asva/thine-v-1

I have not heard any of his music but his name is familiar. I'm going to have a look at the link you provided... Did/does he compose for chorus? Thanks for the tip! On another note here's a link to a good review of the new Asva/Philippe Petit collaboration due out uh, today actually, July 16! http://gumshoegrove.com/2012/07/09/asva-philippe-petit-empires-should-burn-cd-small-doses-basses-frequences-records-album-as-art-209/

So there's a couple of albums worth of new material waiting to be released? That's awesome, I had understood Presences of Absences was the last album Asva would release, but thankfully that's not the case. Btw; Stuart, since you're delving into classical music at the moment, have you ever heard the music of Giacinto Scelsi? Absolutely amazing stuff, he was already doing the whole 'drone' thing in an orchestral form in the nineteen-fifties! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLi3xxxjHDc
