Great Lakes is an outstanding LP. Can't wait to see John supporting Iron & Wine at the Barbican in a few weeks. That should tide me over until the Union Chapel gig in November.

Really nice surprise seeing John play before Josh Ritter, definitely worth the night out. Not saying Josh Ritter is shit or anything like that though. :P

Nice one! John on at Kendal. Excuse the well timed and nonsensical heckle...perhaps, "You murdered my sister!"?

Finally managed to see John Smith live at the Beautiful Days festival this year. Absolutely stonkin'! Just a shame I didn't manage to catch him after the gig and get me a copy of Map or Direction. I've since got it from the site, and loving it. Keep up the good work, John.

Ah, is incapable of distinguishing the artists with the same name? Lame.. Saw the acoustic guitarist/vocalist John Smith at Liverpool Philharmonic last night. Was expecting African music (he was supporting Tunng/Tinariwen) and when this guy came on, I thought he looked like a college kid who'd just blagged playing in front of a big audience, and really wasn't expecting much. But absolutely blew me away, fantastic voice, great guitar, nice banter. Was worth the ticket price just for his half-hour set.

aye he has an amazing voice live. Saw him at a church venue and it was the most awkward gig of my life. No one could understand his stage banter because of the acoustics so everyone just smiled and nodded and waited for him to carry on playing amazing music.

He kills it live! Seen him supportin John Martyn and at this little gig in Withington. Great stuff, deserves way more recognition, although he doesn't seem the sort who craves it. (the guitar one obviously, no idea who the other guy is)
