Johann Ludwig Krebs (bapt. Butterstedt, Weimar, 12 Oct. 1713; d. Altenberg, 1 Jan. 1780) is a composer. He served as a copyist for Johann Sebastian Bach, who was also his teacher. Most of his compositions were for the organ. Life Krebs was born in 1713 in Weimar, Germany to Johann Tobias Krebs, a well known organist. J. Tobias had at least three sons who were considered musically talented, and J. Ludwig was sent to Leipzig to study organ, lute, and the violin.
