He is the youngest son of Steve Brand, former guitarist for David Frizzell and drummer for Rusty Draper, and Gail Brand, an American Sign Language Interpreter and schoolteacher. Before moving to Texas, Jesse earned a living as a carpenter and at one time, a semi truck driver. Though he is most known for his music, Brand is also an actor and accomplished athlete.
