Yes you summed it up quite well, people call for the Holy Spirit when they are DESPERATE or have no other conceivable avenues of action, hope etc. Thanks for replying stoolhardy! These I borrowed, borrowed so far: turned to dust; fall apart...'' a Communist left wing line, Blunt got a lot of things in life for free (metaphorically) e.g. he was middle class. He got a ride up the music industry, a fast short cut. In this line he is pleading for people to step in his shoes & realise ''short cuts'' to stardom have a PRICE, pardon the capitalistic PUN."

It encourages humans to make the most of life, to try to experience everything (within reason and law) and he wants to 'join everyone' so we all become friends & connected (sounds cheesy I know - but when sung it melody it does sound discernible and palatable/visceral). This song is the antithesis and musical antipathy songmeaning to Coldplay's Such A Rush..."

Well I think it's his best song to date. Sending Wisemen down to number 2 in my James Blunt chart.
