Biography

Isobel "Isy" Suttie (born 11th August, 1978) is a comic and actor. She was born in Hull, raised in Matlock, Derbyshire, England and trained as an actor at the Guildford School of Acting receiving her First Class B.A. (Hons) in 2000.

Isy started performing stand-up, songs and characters on the comedy circuit in 2003. She now performs both as herself and as a number of singing characters including angsty U.S. singer-songwriter Mary Westenberger, and created the double act Safe and Sounders alongside Lawry Lewin. She is a regular at Robin Ince's Book Club and was in several episodes of BBC Radio 1's The Milk Run. Other radio work includes The Mitch Benn Music Show (BBC7), The Dom Joly Show, The Now Show, Fordham & Lipson in Your Ear and 28 Acts in 28 Minutes (BBC Radio 4). She co-hosts the Resonance FM Tuesday afternoon show I, DJ alongside Josie Long and Danielle Ward.

At the 2005 Edinburgh Fringe Festival Suttie was one of the acts in stand-up showcase The Comedy Zone alongside Mark Olver, Russell Kane and Matt Green. In 2006 she acted in Danielle Ward's Take-a-Break Tales at the Pleasance with Neil Edmond and Emma Fryer and will take her first solo show up in 2007 to the Pleasance, Love Lost in the British Retail Industry.

Also a published poet and accomplished musician, she composed and musically directed an a capella score for Marat/Sade at the Arcola Theatre, London in 2001.

Awards include the Daily Telegraph Young Jazz Competition regional winner, the Julian Slade Songwriting Competition and Chortle Awards best newcomer nominee. Acting credits include Mary Shelley in The Trouble With Love (BBC2), and Love Soup (BBC1).
