Biography

Los Angeles, United States (2005 – present)

Intronaut is a band from Los Angeles, California.

They play in the style of progressive metal with some harsh vocals, as well as, more recently, melodic vocals and vocal harmonies, combined with progressive and jazzy instrumental breaks. Their sound incorporates traits from prog rock, sludge metal, Indian, African, and Afro-Latin rhythms, as well as a heavy jazz influence.

Intronaut features guitarist/vocalist Sacha Dunable, guitarist/vocalist/percussionist David Timnick, drummer Danny Walker, and bassist Joe Lester. In 2005, Intronaut released a four-track demo entitled Null – Demonstration Extended Play Compact Disc. They signed to Goodfellow Records in October, and in early April 2006, recorded Void at Shiva Industries in Santa Ana, California with producer John Haddad.

In August 2007, guitarist/vocalist Leon del Muerte left the band to focus on his Murder Construct project. He was replaced by Dave Timnick.

Shortly thereafter Intronaut toured Europe for the first time, supporting the heavy prog-metal band The Ocean.

In January 2008, the band announced that they had signed a world wide deal with Century Media Records, and completed their next album, Prehistoricisms. They also covered Eyehategod’s Dixie Whiskey for the Century Media 20th Anniversary cover album.

I love Mastodon and like Intronaut. They're not at all alike though, I don't know where you're finding the comparison. If anything, this band is a nice combination of Isis and Tool.

Of course, Brann Dailor or w/e the drummer's name is from Mastodon is pretty boss though.. That's the only thing I think Mastodon has on this band. Crazy drummer with insane drum fills.

Sanity_Theorist "A band I kinda heard once and returned to...I am impressed. It's basically a version of Mastodon that fixed the vocal flaws, added more influences and went more progressive." DUDE...I was thinking the EXACT same thing just now.. WTF..

damn this band isn't that bad. can't believe I overlooked them a while back. I regret not seeing them live when I saw AAL and Meshuggah.. =(

These guys are amazing. Great dudes, great music. So stoked for the tour with Tesseract and Cloudkicker. And to see them backing up Ben will be great!

Although I wasn't too happy about the lack of harsh vocals, and didn't appreciate the cleans on Valley of Smoke, Habitual Levitations is now tied for my favorite Intronaut album alongside Prehistoricisms.

And now these guys are going to be Cloudkicker's band in the April tour with TesseracT! So freaking incredible!

Personally I'm actually pretty happy they're moving in a more melodic direction. And especially happy they're moving away from the cookie-cutter sludge vocals. They're progressing into something that is really their own and it's pretty incredible.
