Biography
Ingvar Loco Nordin is the proprietor of the inde label SONOLOCO RECORDS as well as the Internet site Sonoloco Record Reviews, where he publishes texts on contemporary art music. These texts comprise, for the most part, essays or other more literary texts, and not so much the regular record review of the trade, or at the very least, a quite extended form of the review idiom. It is by chance that Sonoloco Record Reviews lingers within the contemporary art music realm. The explanation is that this is the kind of music that arrives at Sonoloco's door from record companies, composers and artists. In the real world, Ingvar Loco Nordin listens to and collects musics from all ages and places. Ingvar Loco Nordin has worked as freelance at Channel 2 of the Swedish Broadcasting Corporation, with series about electronic and Arabic music (Om Kalsoum), and with individual programs about Terry Riley, Gilius van Bergeijk and others. Extended and deep collaborations have been accomplished with, for instance, Professor Karlheinz Stockhausen and Folke Rabe. Ingvar Loco Nordin is a member of The Great Learning Orchestra, Fylkingen and ISCM. As a composer and musician, Ingvar Loco Nordin mostly dedicates himself to electronic music, text-sound compositions and sound poetry, with the human voice as a natural ingredient. Ingvar Loco Nordin is also active as a writer and a poet; one longer text - the novel Veri Similia - published on his site. He also devotes time to music journalism in printed form, with articles in, for example, Sonic Arts Journal and Dansk Musik Tidskrift (Danish Music Magazine). Much of his time is dedicated to nature and music photography, and daily bike rounds on one of his racing bikes. He makes his living as a crime investigator with the Police Authority of Sodermanland, Sweden.
