    2006 – present (18 years)

Heavïness are commonly thought to be a shoegaze four-piece hailing for Stockholm, Switzerland, Swaziland, Sweden. Phono-geographically speaking, their sound lies approximately half way between over there and somewhere else, provided somewhere else is located in a container. They do stick pretty close to the shoegaze ethic, both in terms of sound, aesthetics. One of the reasons we waited so long for their first record, released in Autumn 2006 was that it cost so damn much. The other co-primary reason is that they're 4 young perfectionists (read: control-freaks).

The lineup consists of David (the Eagle Cross; guitar+vox), Emma(cello+bass), Daniel(drums) and Rizzler(guitar). It's hard to say whether the other David is also in the band (it certainly seems like it at times); he does the projections for the shows. David and Daniel used to play together in both Montage and Vacuum Cleaner (although they sucked).

Swedish indie-pop icon Terry Ericsson said they were the best thing since My Bloody Valentine but that wasn't really an appropriate thing to say. The guy's a clown. Yeah, they do sound a bit like MBV on the first listen but only a bit. We had to go a long time without any decent shoegaze for a reason. That idiot in the Heaviness shout-box (saying something like 'another MBV rip-off, nice try') was, oh, I seem to have used that noun prematurely in this sentence. But whatever, it's not the case.

They were (and maybe still are) the top-selling current record on tonevendor.com although last thing I heard they were running out. The second pressing will be OK – it'll sound the same but it just won't be the first and therefore you won't be cool if you own it. Whichever what you look at it, it's better than getting your fingers caught in a blender.

MicePace: http://www.myspace.com/heaviness – this used to be owned by a body-builder and it was pretty funny. Now it's just the band.

And the 'ï' in heavïness is written as I-mutation (that's umlaut, if you prefer). So sort your ID3 tags. Or is that too difficult for you illiterates?
