Biography

If you’re looking for a Vocaloid “GUMI”, go to メグッポイド, or simply do nothing

gumi (グミ), commonly known as meg rock, also known as Megumi Hinata (meg hinata, 日向めぐみ), is a female Japanese singer, lyricist and musician.

Megumi Hinata began learning to play the piano at the age of four, and said she first became interested in music in the latter half of elementary school, which she spent in the United States. After returning to Japan, she began writing lyrics and music, and participated in band activities at school.

Hinata is considerably fluent in English. Her lyrics often contain whole verses or choruses in English, and she has even written a few songs entirely in English. She has also translated lyrics for other artists from English to Japanese (Hilary Duff’s song “I Can’t Wait”, for example) as well as from Japanese to English.

Throughout her career she has operated under many names. Under the direction of Kohmi Hirose, Megumi Hinata had her singing debut in 1998 as GUMI (グミ) and sung the theme song and several insert songs for the immensely popular Card Captor Sakura anime. She changed her solo stage name to meg rock in 2004.

In addition to her solo career, she had a side project with Akimitsu Honma from 2000 to 2001 called g.e.m., and another with Ritsuko Okazaki started in April 2002 called MELOCURE, which ended abruptly due to Okazaki’s death in 2004. MELOCURE created music for a number of anime series including UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie, Stratos 4, and Oku-sama wa Mahō Shōjo: Bewitched Agnes.

"We should call GUMI from Megpoid as メグッポイド as there is a tag for her." is no argument... the correct tag for "Gumi Megpoid" is "GUMI" check out vocaloid wiki for further references - the most common alias of megumi hinata is "meg rock" & there is a correct tag for her: http://www.lastfm.de/music/meg+rock

Super Duper Love Days, Picnic, Hitorijime->ヒトリジメ and Catch You Catch Me to グミ and by great amount of votes: We should call GUMI from Megpoid as メグッポイド as there is a tag for her.

The song 'Catch You Catch Me' is Megumi Hinata (日向めぐみ) in original, but vocaloid Gumi sings this song too. Imo tag 'GUMI' should be for Megpoid, not for Megumi. And please, 'stop saying to change tags'. [2] (Yeah, and I'm sorry for my bad english, but I wanted to wrote my opinion here.)

stop saying to change tags. This tag ISN'T wrong in any way, nobody uses her japanese name for nothing, in duets its used GUMI, and the same way that the kaito, lily, meiko and leon tags are their english name, gumi isn't different. Vocaloid don't have a wrong way to tag, because if this were taken into consideration, EVERYBODY who uses the names of the vocaloids (japanese or english) are wrong, since should be used the composer's name. For me, tag megpoid gumi with "Gumi" is a lot easier, and the MOST RIGHT way to tag her is "VOCALOID GUMI", but this one isn't used. My lastfm, my tags

I agree that there is a lot of confusion with the tags in this situation, but it is simply remedied by using Gumi's Japanese name.
