Biography
Grey Anne is the musical moniker of Anne Adams, who has been an active member of Portland, Oregon's musical community since the mid-2000's, playing solo and in various band projects, and helping found the now-flourishing PDX Pop Now festival.
Most recently, Adams worked on the Neil Gaiman/Henry Selick stop-motion film, Coraline.
Adams credits "show-tunes and choir music" as her influences, but critics have compared her songwriting style to Joanna Newsom, Syd Barret, and Cat Power.
Where "facts n figurines" is heavily orchestrated, live Grey Anne shows feature Adams playing solo, layering a bodhran drum, vocal harmonies, and other instruments through a looping pedal for an orchestrated effect. Those who enjoy surprise, surrealism, and wry confession, may be drawn into the enveloping fog of Grey Anne.
