Gracie Abrams wonders if others can see past the old her on “Block me out,” originally a single and later added to Good Riddance (Deluxe). The track was written with The National’s Aaron Dessner, who notably co-wrote and produced 2021’s “Rockland” with Abrams.
“Block me out” was announced with an Instagram post by Gracie on April 5. It was then first heard on Olivia Rodrigo’s SOUR tour, with Abrams serving as a support act at the Portland show on April 5, 2022.
Gracie Abrams:
"‘Block me out’ is out everywhere now (😭) i wrote this when i was very tangled up in my anxiety. long pond is healing. @aaron_dessner i’m screaming at you through the phone right now… i love and value every single aspect of working with you. thank you for creating space for my rambling and for being as generous with your wisdom as you are. i swear i’m always taking notes."
Arianna :
"i love you. thank you for coming up and capturing the madness. you are so effortlessly talented it’s stupid and everything you touch is immediately more special and immediately more important to me.
we hope you love this song. more later."
