George Frideric Handel (as he was known after his change of nationality, as he signed himself, and as he is known in the English-speaking world) (23rd February 1685–14th April 1759) was a German/English composer who was a leading composer of concerti grossi, operas, and oratorios.

  • three things about Händel: 1. He's my favorite composer. I preffer him even to Bach, cause he's lighter, happier, less logical/mathematic. Everything to him is celebration, probably due to his strong operistic dimension. 2. Water Music & Fireworks are the perfect music to begin a joyful day with. 3. His religious music is solemn but not sad and exibitionistic. His measure and sense of atmosphere and mood is impressive.
