Moscow, Russian Federation (2005 – present)

Everything is made in China or Eimic is a russian three-piece post-rock band formed 2005 in Moscow and composed of Max Fedorov on vocals, lead guitar and percussion, Phil Premyak on bass guitar and keyboards and Alexander Bykov on the drums. EIMIC cannot be compared with any of the bands growing and ceasing within the russian indie scene, which remains dubious in the very fact of its existence. Their music draws on influences such as Mogwai, Broken Social Scene, The Most Serene Republic, Radiohead and Smashing Pumpkins. By now they keep melody minimalistic, experimenting widely with vocal, electronic and instrumental samples in a manner reminding of Sigur Rós. They sing in English, however, they do not accentuate on lyrics and seems, at the moment vocals are just another instrument to experiment with. Their first release “4” appeared in summer 2007 at a canadian recording studio “Chemical Sound” in Toronto, Ontario. Supported by the internet campaign this album received good critics and inchoated successful touring in Russia. Rolling Stone pronounced eimic to be the most promising russian post-rock band.

Eimic is one of the participants of the Open’er Festival 2008 in Gdynia, Poland.

    There was a huge change in direction from the previous albums (4 and Auto Mov). Some songs are boring and predictable and the album gets only to "average". But there are good stuff on it if you listen closely. I'd still recommend it.

    Я не против творческого развития, но 4 и Automatic Movements я слушаю до сих пор от начала до конца, а из Amber может пару треков переслушаю еще. Может потом дорасту. С выступлениями тоже шляпа: раньше был бомбовый видеоарт и дух угара, сейчас клавишник полконцерта стоит облокотившись на клавиатуру с пустым взглядом. Даже по толпе видно - прокачивают только старые вещи. Грустно.

    с каждым прослушиванием нового альбома крепнет ощущение, что пока не готов сформировать о нем сколько-нибудь определенное мнение.. может, это бомба замедленного действия? а, может, совсем наоборот... в свое время automatic movements и 4 понравились с первых звуков и нравились (в смысле не выходили из активной ротации) очень долго

    This music lover thinks that the new album is gorgeous conceptually and compositionally. The production is pretty good. I haven't heard the lyrics yet, so can't comment on that. Also genre-wise I would categorize it closer to Dream Pop with the likes of M83 and ON AN ON.
