“Boogie Wonderland” is a hit song for Earth, Wind & Fire with The Emotions, written by Allee Willis and Jon Lind, taken from the album I Am. Willis told Songfacts that Boogie Wonderland was inspired by the Diane Keaton movie Looking For Mr. Goodbar. It is regarded as a classic of the disco era and peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, #2 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and #4 on the UK Singles Chart. The song also won the 1980 Grammy Award for Best R&B Instrumental Performance.

The repeated line from the chorus sums up the song: “I find romance when I start to dance in Boogie Wonderland”.

The song was used in a 1980 disco comedy skit on The Benny Hill Show and was later used in the Dreamworks-produced computer-animation movie Madagascar (2005). In the Cartoon Network animated movie Billy & Mandy’s Big Boogey Adventure, the song was featured in the main commercial trailer for the US premiere and was used during the closing credits of the movie. A remix of the song was also used in the arcade game Dance Dance Revolution 3rdMIX. “Boogie Wonderland” has also been made into different variations by the Southern University Marching Band, Tennessee State University’s Aristocrat of Bands, and the Marching 100.

In Australia, Priscilla: the Musical uses this song for one of the minor sequences in Lasseters casino in Northern Territory.
