Desert Sharks is a rock, punk, garage, all-girl band from New York, NY, United Sates.
Desert Sharks originally formed by answering musician ads. The band came up with its name while writing a song. Their "guitarist Stefania suggested her guitar line sounded like the music from Jaws". Stephanie, who plays bass, said it sounded more "like the song Tequila". The band ended naming the song "Tequila Shark" and eventually chose "Desert Shark" for their own name. 1 This "all-girl, 4-piece rock assemblage holds true to the movement started way back by groups like the Runaways, and furthered through the 90’s by the likes of Veruca Salt and the Breeders". 2
