Charlotte Lawrence first teased “Talk You Down” with a clip from a dance rehearsal for the shoot of the music video on her socials. She announced the title of the song on her Instagram story on October 15, 2020.

In an interview for her “Notion 88” cover story, Charlotte Lawrence shared the meaning about Talk You Down:

" about anxiety, mental breakdowns, depression and feeling a flurry of crazy emotions and not really knowing how to deal with it properly."

On December 30, 2020 officially started teasing for the release of the song with an image from the video shoot.

Charlotte released a music video for her song on January 28th, 2021, in which she portrays the two sides of her anxiety, stating on Reddit:

"In my mind, the long haired me is my higher and true authentic self, calm and a bright light, and black bodysuit is my shadow me, being pulled and pushed around by anxiety and depression."

Charlotte Lawrence shared during her “Notion 88” cover story, that "Talk You Down" is a note to herself.

"You can listen to it and feel like it’s more about a relationship—that I’m telling my partner that I’m here for them to talk them down and make them feel okay, you don’t need to be sad. Or you could also hear it like I’m talking to myself. I’m like, okay, I’m panicking. I’m freaking out. I’m having a panic attack. It’s okay, calm down, it’s alright, everything’s gonna be fine."

In an Instagram livestream when announcing the song and her self-titled EP Charlotte explained:

"I could kind of place for myself, an emotion behind each song on the EP and then I attached a color for each emotion that I see. Cause I’m somebody that, I’m a very visual person and even when I write a song I can already start playing a music video or see what I want to be involved with the creative of the song. So "Talk You Down" is green and the emotion for me is anxiety which is what that song means to me…"
