Biography

’Far Out’ is reminiscent of the work of Thom Yorke, Four Tet and Massive Attack. This is not just another debut album,” wrote Dutch webzine Festivalinfo about Bowrain’s first album release.

Bowrain aka Tine Grgurevič is a Slovenian composer, pianist and producer. In 2012 he started performing electronic music under the name Bowrain and in 2014 released his debut album Far Out. The release of the album was held in Amsterdam’s Sugarfactory, followed by a number performances as a support to main acts such as LAMB, Garden City Movement, Jessy Lanza, Perera Elsewhere and Arms and Sleepers. To date he has released three singles and two albums. His previous studio recordings used to be fully individual, however, the upcoming album ‘Distracted’ is a collaboration with Ljubljana based guitarist and producer Mario Babojelić - UM and Amsterdam based drummer Robert Nitschke. His most recent performances include: Tallinn Music Week (EE), Westway lab festival in Guimarães (PT), MENT Festival and Piano Day Ljubljana (SI).

Before turning to electronic music, Grgurevič worked as a jazz pianist and composer. He recorded his first jazz album Balcan Flavour (2009) in Philadelphia. The album featured two well-known jazz musicians John Swana and Anwar Marshall. His second jazz album Images of reality (2009) was successfully presented at Blues’n Jazz Festival in Luxembourg featuring Ernie Hammes on trumpet. One of his most significant jazz acts was Duet with Slavoj Žižek (2010), a dialogue between piano and speech.

Apart from creating his own music, Bowrain has composed music for art installations, performances and videos of artists Meta Grgurevič, JAŠA (Mrevlje-Pollak) and Lisa Vereertbrugghen. His music was performed in the Modern Gallery and Škuc Gallery (LJU), Het Veem Theater (AMS), De Appel (AMS), Melkweg (AMS), Graphic Biennale (LJU), Uferstudios (BER) and Pioneer Works (NYC). His latest commission was for Slovenian Pavilion of the 56th Venice Art Biennale.
