“The Happiest Girl” is the sixth track from BLACKPINK’s sophomore album "BORN PINK".
The all-English song features a soulful chord structure and piano performance. The melody’s emotional structure contrasts with the song’s title. The lyrics are about the strong desire to be happy even if someone is gone.
The song doesn’t stray too far from the pop music genre, but the traditional chord structure is a new style for BLACKPINK who focus more on anthemic sounds.
It was confirmed by Jeff Benjamin of Billboard that The Happiest Girl would be the co-focus single for release week in the US, alongside title track “Shut Down”.
The song was written by Singer/Songwriter Natalia Kills, now known as Teddy Sinclair and her husband, Willy Moon (Sinclair)
