When are they out with new material? Yes, ''Deathless Light'' - EP - to be released on 31 October via W.T.C. Productions. Still, can't get enough of the début album.

i didn't notice how weird the first half of Angel of the Burning Sun is until the other night. really bizarre stuff there... kind of like a sore thumb of the album.

"Everyone keeps talking about how DsO influenced they are, but to be honest I hear a lot more Secrets of the Moon in them" "True that ... Especially since the vocalist is Ar (Michael Zech) from Secrets of The Moon ." The vocals are very good, however I have never been into SOTM that much (I like some of their old stuff), I prefer Ascension over the recent stuff from SOTM. Their demo is fantastic for a Black Metal band from the 21st century! The rest is very-very-very good too (but yes, I prefer the demo ;-)) Also, I don't think we can't compare them to DsO either, the music is very different, really. Some thoughts for Marianne (L.S.K.) by the way, who did some guest vocals on Consolamentum. I hope she found what she was looking for...

I agree it does have a hint of SotM but it's unique in its own way. It's quite close to Watain's Sworn to the dark as well.

I agree. I don't really hear much DsO in this other than the occasional noodling with dissonance. DsO are far more experimental (this band isn't). still pretty solid straight forward bm. \m/

I agree with the fact that it sounds much closer to SOTM than DsO, not only the vocals but also musically. They are one of the most impressive "recent" BM bands in my opinion. The balance between atmospheric parts and classic BM riffing is awesome, the song structures are perfect, high expectations on what's to come next...

This band is much better than I expected. A strong Deathspell omega influence with a strong twist of their own with the riffs. Very good material.

Bandcamp Shaping Structures: This is quite the debut album! Those leads are and riffs are incredibly good along with the key work that add to the aggression. The vocals are fronted well and they stand their ground pretty good on every track. The way this band plays, I'm not surprised at all that they hail from Perth..everyone is born with guitars down there. Make Them Suffer meets Sensory Amusia type of sounding band! Well worth the purchase! \m/

I also read that statement and I would be curious about whether a second full-lenght masterpiece will happen in the near future or not. Ascension is high above the average, both the demo and the EP were fucking killer, not speaking about Consolamentum which is a real gem of nightside emanations.

"anyone know if Ascension are working on new material?" --> "June 19, 2012: We will now re-enter our temple walls with fire in our hearts and hunger in our veins to continue working on what will someday become the 2nd album."
