According to this song, Alec Benjamin is talking about a girl he liked, and they had met at a water fountain. He soon finds out the girl is with another guy. Therefore, Alec goes to the water fountain wishing that the girl was there with him. In the song it says “She told me that she loved me by the water fountain, She told me that she loved me and she didn’t love him” that’s what the girl told Alec.. Now Alec goes to the water fountain alone just hoping the girl will come back remembering what she told him.
On April 6, 2020, Alec released an acoustic version.
In his Billboard breakdown of Narrated for You, Alec shared:
“This was a song that I wrote about one of the first girls I ever liked and she told me that she loved me, but I wasn’t ready. Then later on, I still had feelings for her, but having grown up, she had moved on and was into other guys.“
