Adwaith (transl. Reaction) is a Welsh language indie-rock group from Carmarthen, in West Wales, formed in 2015. The group currently consists of Hollie Singer (vocals, guitar), Gwenllian Anthony (bass, keys, mandolin), and Heledd Owen (drums).
Gyda rhyddhau 'Pwysau', sengl cyntaf Adwaith, agorwyd pennod newydd, dewr a chyffrous yng ngherddoriaeth Cymru yn ogystal ȃ chynnig balm o garedigrwydd a chariad ar gyfer y gwrandawr. Ar ddiwedd blwyddyn gythryblus a chynhyrfus llawenhawn fod y gân wedi'i chynnwys ar albwm #MoreinCommon, sy'n codi ymwybyddiaeth o'r elusen Gobaith nid Casineb (Hope not Hate) ac yn codi arian iddi. Trwy blethu harmoniau prydferth, naturiol Adwaith gyda threfniant cŵl a llac dinesig, a Heledd yn drymio'n ddeheuig tebyg i Krautrock mae'r gân yn agor meddyliau ac yn cydio yng nghalonnau tra'n dal i gadw'n ffyddlon i weledigaeth creadigol y band.
Mae holl ganeuon Adwaith yn creu perthynas uniongyrchol ȃ’r gwrandawr fel y mae ‘Haul’, ail sengl y band ar label Libertino, a ryddhawyd yn gynharach eleni. Yn gynharach roedd y band yn tynnu lluniau gyda dewis o liwiau tawel, digyffro ond y mae 'Haul' yn ffrwydro'n enfys o liwiau llachar. Enillodd y ddwy gȃn glod yn fuan iawn ac fe’u chwarewyd yn fynych ar y radio yn enwedig ar BBC Radio 1, Radio Wales a Radio Cymru (lle’r oedd ‘Haul’ yn gȃn yr wythnos ac fe’i chwaraewyd lawer gwaith) ac Amazing Radio.

The release of the debut single ‘Pwysau’ by Adwaith heralded a new brave and exiting chapter for Welsh music as well as being a comforting balm of kindness and love for the listener. This song was also proudly included on the #MoreInCommon album raising funds and awareness for the charity Hope not Hate at the end of a turbulent and unsettling 2016. Molding the delicate, natural beauty of Adwaith’s vocal harmonies to the cool urban detachment of the arrangement, and Heledd’s clipped Krautrock-like drum grooves, the song opened minds and captivated hearts, whilst still keeping true to the creative vision set out by the band.
As with all Adwaith’s songs, they instinctively forge a direct emotional connection with the listener, ‘Haul’, the bands second single for the label Decidedly released early this year, is no exception. Whereas previously the band painted sounds with a pallet of muted sombre colours ‘Haul’ explodes with bright golden sunshine. Both songs gained fast critical acclaim and extensive radio plays most noticeably on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru (Haul was play-listed as the song of the week) and Amazing Radio.
