Description

Do you remember when “Un-break My Heart” first came out? The R&B hit demonstrated the rich contralto range of voice heavily lauded by music critics, and made Toni Braxton a household name virtually overnight. Since then, Braxton has produced an impressive catalog of five albums, several of which were multi-platinum, including a best-selling Ultimate Collection in 2003. In March, the singer will bring her distinguished voice to Spirit Mountain Casino for one night only!

Born and raised in a small town in Maryland, Braxton was heavily inspired by the works of Stevie Wonder, Anita Baker, Chaka Khan and Whitney Houston. When she was young girl, she set her sights on a singing career, with the first step being the star of her church choir where her natural musical skills were quickly evident. When studying for her teaching degree at Bowie State University, Braxton was discovered by Atlanta music producers L.A. Reid and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, affectionately known as “LaFace.” Her decade with the duo produced five albums that racked up some 40 million sales worldwide.

Braxton captured the starring role as Belle in Broadway’s “Beauty & The Beast” in 1998. Two years later, she released another album, “The Heat,” which gained Top-10 status in more than a dozen countries and earned a Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and two American Music Awards for the single, “He Wasn’t Man Enough.” That was the same year that Braxton was given the coveted Aretha Franklin Soul Train Award for lifetime achievement.

Outside of music, Braxton has also been successful in film, television and Broadway, with her own show at the Flamingo Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas from 2005 to 2008, and a solid run as a contestant on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars in 2008. Join us at the Spirit Mountain Event Center on March 10th to celebrate this queen of R&B! Tickets go on sale next Monday, January 30, starting at $15.
