Description
Phronesis has developed a fierce reputation as one of the most formidable trios in the UK. Their 2009 album Green Delay was recorded as a dedication to bassist Jasper Høiby's sister, who, due to a form of cataract, totally lost her sight over a two-month period. Now, their Pitch Black project explores the nature of our sensory relationship with music; one half of this evening's performance takes place in complete darkness.
In 2010 Phronesis were nominated for Best Jazz Ensemble in the Parliamentary Jazz Awards and Best Jazz Act at the MOBO Awards, and their third CD Alive was also voted Jazz Album of the Year in both Jazzwise and MOJO magazines. The trio - Jasper Høiby (bass), Ivo Neame (piano) and Anton Eger (drums) - perform music from that album and preview new material from their forthcoming album, due for release in spring 2012.
The performance is followed by a Q&A session with the trio
