The European premiere of a grand new work from leading US pianist Brad Mehldau. Conducted by Scott Woo featuring Joshua Redman, Larry Grenadier, Jeff Ballard & Matt Chamberlain
One of the most lyrical and intimate voices of contemporary jazz piano, Brad Mehldau has forged a unique path, which embodies the essence of jazz exploration, classical romanticism and pop allure. Joined here by longtime musical friend and highly acclaimed saxophonist Joshua Redman, his dynamic trio plus the hugely adept Britten Sinfonia, Mehldau will perform his stirring Highway Rider album that encompasses romantic, lyrical string sections set against brisk jazz improvisation to create a sweeping palette of musical moods.
'A sprawling, two-disc travelogue of sorts that might be his most fully realized work yet...full of unexpected twists and lush, evocative detours, "Highway Rider" is most definitely a trip, and one well worth taking.'
