I used to like Ariel Pink quite a bit but for some reason I just got sick of him. Back then I would occasionally listen to Steevie Moore and Gary War too. I'm actually about to listen to Ducktails now since I recently discovered the enigma that is Sam Mehran.

Ha, seriously. He goes on for an entire paragraph and now says he doesn't care enough to click on a couple of links. I also like how he says you don't appreciate music/history, yet continues to remain willfully ignorant about one of the more influential genres. http://i.imgur.com/1cDgc3r.jpg

I wouldn't ask any of those questions. The second and third are extremely absurd.

"Then why the fuck have you been lecturing to me about the differences between hauntology and post-hauntology?" Are you saying that you have to be a Marxist or Derrida fan in order to appreciate a genre of music? I would think it would go without saying, but you don't have to agree with an artist's politics in order to like their art. After all, they are artists, not politicians. That's nice that you think a post that I made was lame. I care, really, much like I'm in a rush to go see what D-A-N- had to say.

That's unfortunate. Any idea as to why you were suspended? You definitely need to listen to Red House Painters soon, absolutely beautiful music :)

The potluck insult was mostly written as an amusing anecdote. If that is not how you actually are, then you should really work on integrating your self in real life with your online persona. No, I haven't read that book as I'm not a fan of Marx or Derrida. Aside from school which has been keeping me busy as of late (my last math class ever, my last english class ever, medical terminology and psychology which are fun), I've actually been educating myself on the Mexican Drug War and the various cartels.

I couldn't care less if you don't like the Dum Dum Girls, much less any particular track by them that I have scrobbled the most in the last two weeks. You pay more attention to my charts than I do, but I couldn't care less what you think of them as you're probably somebody who thinks the Ramones sucked and frequently cited Morrissey's review for back up until you realized that even he had taken back what he said about them. It's just as easy to be asshole and talk shit as it is to enjoy music.

I don't ever remember saying that afrobeat is lame but that could be one way to describe it. Any culture with a beat attached to it sounds lame to me, if not just because it's stupid to attach a title like that to any culture, or beat. Having said that, I can only enjoy jazz, funk, and cheap beer in small doses so naturally a fusion genre of that wouldn't appeal to someone like me. It's good that people like you continue to enjoy and archive it though, or it might completely fade away into obscurity.

To be honest, I can't remember the last time that I went to Pitchfork, other than to laugh at how bad a review they gave something or somebody. At this point, only lamestreamers consider that site relevant. My age has nothing to do with anything unless you are trying to imply that I should have boring taste by now. If that is the case, than I am sorry to disappoint you. I have no idea what else you were going on about toward the end there, but if you post a lame song or video on my page then I am going to call you out for it. Next time maybe try harder, or perhaps less hard.

Actually, I find Jamie Stewart amusing and I'm really looking forward to Xiu Xiu's next album. Regardless, he is like a poor man's Morrissey, but that is precisely what makes him and their music so great to me. When I wrote the status that you misinterpreted as "internet > reality", I was actually mocking that position by illustrating how you can get your hopes up based on false internet personas.

oh man, that sucks :/ Hard to imagine a (internet) society where you could have a balance between the two, but that would be perfect. Same happened to me with Pop as well, actually. Thought it was very average at first, had a second listen today and I really like the way he blends ambient techno with more traditional ambient and then throws field recordings on top of it.

I'm beginning to see you as that guy who brings the most obscure, random dish to the potluck which nobody is actually interested in trying much less likes but picks at and compliments you for just to be nice. Unfortunately this often leads to you giving an unnecessarily long description about how it was made and something irrelevant before they find an excuse to get away from you. You go home thinking that you did your job for the day by bringing diversity to the group while everybody drinks and laughs when talking about how nasty that your dish actually was once you have left.

I've been a fan of Austra since Feel It Break, although I became an even bigger fan after seeing them open for Cold Cave. It took awhile for Olympia to grow on me but I think Katie Stelmanis has a beautiful voice and comes off as a very genuine person.

That wouldn't be so bad if it was condensed into something better under 3 minutes.
