  Do you like it? I was getting into Manilla Road but I didn’t get too far into their discography before I went and tried Invasion and then I had to stop right there and find the rest of their music that had their early sound because I liked it so much.

  it's a very different sound for them on that record. The only other thing I think that sounds like it is Mark of the Beast (recorded in 1981 but was finally released in 2002). Even the follow-up to Invasion, Metal, sounds sort of different. For me, the best Manilla run is from Crystal Logic - Courts of Chaos; that's THE sound of the band. I'd suggest checking forums if you're looking for anything else that has that sort of metallic psychedelic sound

  This era manilla road is so niche I had a hard time finding anything that documented it online. I eventually just went and listened to Hawkwind to get more of that sound. Cirith Ungol sounds a little like it too I thought. I really do love Manilla Road and some of their music in the 2000s was top notch but from 1979-82 was the peak for me and I’m sure no one else. I just turn to Gotham City, Heavy Load or Dio, etc for my proper metal dose. More straightforward bands that don’t have really peculiar albums for me to dwell on.
