I almost prefer being friends with low/med compatibility... you learn more/get exposed to way more artists you might never find otherwise. How so? Valve is doing a great job with frequent updates and community support, the player base is huge (most popular CS by far) and there are a lot of professional tournaments that can be directly watched with the built-in live stream function. It's a great game, but of course, if some people want to stick to the older CS versions that's fine too.
