Hehe, Zelienople is music to immerse yourself in yeah. I find it great for work that requires concentration, I've even got a playlist of their whole discography for this purpose.

Did you check out Zelienople yet? They have quite the extensive discography, but apart from the last LP my favourite may be their release on Under the Spire, Hollywood. They're also recording solo artists, I'm quite excited about Matt's forthcoming LP on UTS for instance, for which there is [url=http://soundcloud.com/under-the-spire/matt-christensen-i-can-see-the]this sneak peek[/url].

Check out Dark Time Sunshine - ANX, it is my favourite hip-hop release of this year so far. Not one bad track in my opinion, with a lot of interesting lyrical content and fantastic production.

Yeah, I got into Mozart's Sister via Grimes maybe a year ago. I reckon this lady is poised for greatness, her talent is staggering, and with a fan in Grimes people are bound to take notice (Pitchfork has already followed suit) :) She has only released the EP on her bandcamp, but is apparently working on her debut LP, which I'm quite excited for. There are some live videos of her on youtube though, that are just awesome. She has also played in the bands Think About Life, Miracle Fortress and Shapes and Sizes. Regarding Daughn Gibson he has a pretty cool style going :] It's perhaps somewhat similar to Julia Holter's astonishing rework of Jib Kidder, 'My Baby'?

Yes, Below Sea Level is simply gorgeous and immersive, and really rather unique. I can't think of anything quite like it, although I have to say I'm not the biggest connoisseur of field recordings. The closest work I can think of right now is Seaworthy's Bellows and Breath. The sketches included with the Deluxe are a treat too. I almost feel like taking up field recording myself!

Well, I thought it was an excellent writeup and what you're saying both about the show and Ekstasis mirrors my own thoughts pretty well. So far Ekstasis is my definite AOTY and I suspect it will remain so, especially considering Tragedy was my favourite album of '11 and I think Ekstasis is really her definitive statement (way better sounding for one). And I can't really think of any artists who can compete with JH as far as I'm concerned. Zelienople and Simon Scott have released albums I'm fairly certain will make it into my top 10 though :) For another, vital, aspect of Julia's artistry, you really need to see her [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAUpRle5RYM]solo piano performance at the Issue Project Room[/url] if you haven't already. There are for instance incredible versions of Betsy on the Roof and Don't Make Me Over (a Dionne Warwick cover).

Hey, Cloud Nothings and The Twilight Sad would be my two other LP's this year, though Lotus Plaza could get in there, and on a related note, my 2nd favorite album last year was also Kurt Vile's and Deerhunter was my nº1 on 2010 :)

i was meaning to listen to both of those! the books are great, so i have expectations for zammuto. can't wait for the new dirty projectors, as they're my favourite band. also, i have expectations for julia holter and delicate steve.

of Montreal - Paralytic Stalks is one of the most chaotic yet interesting things i've heard... maybe ever. it's fantastic. i've enjoyed bits of Xiu Xiu's new record, and i liked Perfume Genius's second album, but haven't played it that much. Grimes was ok and Porcelain Raft was alright. you?

Hey, man. I saw the link that VincentMagnet sent you for Bos Angeles. Do you know where I can get their music or do they only have the three songs on their bandcamp?

I spend a lot of time reading blogs, reading reviews and looking at related artists on Last.fm. I find quite a bit of new music each day. I also watch the top 10 on what.cd for new leaks that might be something I enjoy. You probably already look at pitchfork so a few good ones to check out would be: drownedinsound.com, theneedledrop.com, tinymixtapes.com, potholesinmyblog.com also if you are not already part of what.cd I could see if I can invite you. It's the best music torrent site on the internet basically and has all the leaks first.

oh and another recommendation http://bosangeles.bandcamp.com/, I think this band is right up your alley. I have a feeling they will do great things in the future.

That album is a classic, I could listen to it over and over haha. Another recommendation I would give you is Broken Social Scene You Forgot it in the People. Really great indie rock record check it out :)
