Bringing back to mind now: how did your musical exploration form over the last decade? ... Also... all the best for your soon-to-come 117777 scrobbles, and "4444 artists scrobbled" milestones ... How I came by your lastFM profile? ... lastfm shows us both in this weekly "Discovery Leaderboard" stats: last DOT fm/user/Alexrealty/listening-report/week

yeah that's a great combination. the closest i can think of right now is Bernard Wright - Firebolt Hustle or Rodney Franklin - The Groove. also Asso - Don't Stop or Kurtis Blow - The Breaks. it's all more jazz than disco, much slower, but still disco.... Cush is great! I don't think i know another track with a full string ensemble AND a piano. If you should find something like that let me know. cheers!

What was that article? That's a strange way to listen to MDK btw (I mean, starting in seemingly random order). Did you you like both albums equally though? I feel a bit alone in thinking that MDK isn't far from being the best album ever AND KA is merely decent by Magma standards (at first I loved that album too, but it doesn't age nearly as well as MDK does). On the other hand, I think E-Re is fantastic (I'm in the minority who think that E-Re>>KA). Thanks for reminding me about Lard Free (have heard of, but haven't listened to until now), they're fantastic. Another French band doing kraut is Gutura, I like them a lot.

Man, you listened to Magma, how was it? I think I know at least 95% of all Zeuhl bands out there (so feel free to ask me anything as far as Zeuhl goes), but I'm still pretty much a "newbie" to Krautrock. I like Krautrock when it's jazz and/or musique concrete influenced, but I have a hard time with the kind of Krautrock that is more <i>rock</i> than anything else. I really like Can's Aumgn, Peking O, Faust's debut as well. Perhaps Dom's Edge of Time. Any recommendations based on those preferences?

In the melodic parts, I'm kind of reminded of Zypressen's s/t and Lacrymosa's Bugbear. I also think I like Opus Avantra's debut for the same reasons as Danae. Neither of those albums sound exactly like Danae though.<q>it is really good album.</q>The other people probably thought the same thing. I think it's terrific though. Completely unlike anything else I've heard. Do you have a rym profile?

<q>Try also Gatto marte - Danae</q> <q>Let me know if something from my previous recommendations satisfies You</q> Ok, I really loved that album, thanks. Now I totally understand what you meant by 'nice avant\chamber'.

In regards to a new Quetango album; they listed on their Myspace page "Composing the new album!” Mood: artistic 6:26 2 Aug 2009 but that was back in mid-09....over two years ago now and i haven't heard anything new. You could always try contacting the band directly on their homepage.

Factor Burzaco's second was very interesting, thanks. Same goes for Dziekuje Poland. It was not unlike Mirage as I remember it btw. <q>although i prefer not to understand words and feel vocal as an additional instrument.</q>I couldn't agree more. You're the second person I've ever seen to voice this opinion, and it's exactly how I feel about vocals as well.

Thanks for the suggestions. <q>Also i'm kind of into this italian kitsch manner. </q> For italian prog bands not playing italo prog, aside from Orchestra Njervudarov (and Opus Avantra, you already know them) I recommend La 1919, kind of Italian Aksak Maboul. Also, according to your last.fm, you haven't listened to Pierrot Lunaire's second. If you haven't, do it, it's one of the best albums ever. <q>but they put "Canterbury vocals" into last tracks - its' really disappointing, destroys all the mood they created at begin.</q> I guess you don't like zeuhl because of the "Zeuhl vocals" then. Anyway, vocals are no problem for me, Canterbury (Robert Wyatt is one of my fav vocalists) or whatever. <q>Little Tragedies is good (ru) prog (sounds complex at first).</q>Thanks, haven't even heard of them. For russian (avant) prog, I recommend Horizont - The Portrait of a Boy. The title track in particular is very much RIO/UZ influenced.

"The Phantom Of The Theatre" is my favourite, but it's so... different. I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for. I recommend "Led Circus" if you want a more straight avant-prog UZ-sounding album. BTW, I'd appreciate any recommendations too.

I'm assuming you're asking for strictly prog, right? [artist]Hellebore[/artist]. And [artist]Simon Steensland[/artist] (best UZ/AZ-influenced retro avant-prog I've ever heard). [artist]Bise de Buse[/artist] (UZ-influenced, entirely acoustic), [artist]Blast[/artist] (HC-influenced; wait, no Henry Cow plays at all?). There are others that come to mind, but they're either half avant-chamber, half zeuhl (and you don't seem to be into zeuhl), or not strictly prog.

It's a painting by Lozenzo Mattotti, an artist Lou Reed collaborated with on a project called The Raven.
