It's a very informative and interesting read. It's like 13 chapters, each dedicated to a different 80s indie band. There's one on Mission of Burma, Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, and alot of bands you can't really find any literature on elsewhere. It was written by Michael Azzerad, the same guy who wrote that first Nirvana book.

Aye! Henry Rollins, Rites of Spring, Mudhoney, Minutemen. Have you ever read the book, Our Band Could Be Your Life? Interesting write-ups on all those.

I don't know if I've heard that one or not....I'll look it up. People tend to defend that first album of their's, but I haven't been impressed with anything they've come up with so far.

found The French Kicks' One Time Bells album for a dollar in a pawn shop sometime last year and only recently got around to really listening to it. It's actually quite good. It sounds like The Strokes in a non-Jet way. Is This It Strokes. Great tunes. The Frogs? I've only downloaded them, as they're kinda hard to come by. They're very interesting. worth checking out. Twisted sense of humor.

Actually all 3 discs close with an extended drawn out Sister Ray. The other 2 are only like 20 minutes or so though. If you can look past the bootleg-quality sound it's a pretty cool set. Very cool versions of songs like Foggy Notion as well as rare shit like Over You and Follow The Leader, the latter ....I think may be exclusive to this set. I'd fact check that, but I'm tinda kired. I

Actually I haven't heard the studio version at all, just the 11 minute live take on the Bootleg Series Vol. 1 set. Do you know of it? It's 3 discs of material culled from future Voidoid, Robert Quine's tapes of 3 different shows he recorded in San Francisco in late '69. It came out in '01. Great stuff. Could've done without the 38 minute version of Sister Ray closing disc 2 though. >cont.
