In hetzelfde stijltje raad ik jou een plaat aan van John Maus, 'We Must Become The Pitiless Censors Of Ourselves'. Duistere muziek met synthesizers all over the place en Kraftwerk-like vocals. Erg vet. Elk nummer is raak op deze plaat.

Raad mij eens een toffe plaat aan die ik nog niet ken! Check mijn library of ik er al naar geluisterd heb. Dan doe ik hetzelfde, als je geïnteresseerd bent.

Beautiful film for sure, it's really worth a watch, though in my opinion it lacked a significant amount of substance, drags a bit.

I'm keen to see Bresson's "Diary of a Country Priest", Tarkovsky made a list of his top 10 favourite films and it's up there as is "Mouchette". He also really rated Charlie Chaplin's "City Lights". No worries about the delayed response, it's good that you actually considered the question. I haven't read Hobbes Leviathan. I bought a copy years ago but didn't get very far with it. Best of luck with that. As for the new Six Organs of Admittance, I have only played 2 tracks so far. I found it jarring, closer to Comets on Fire/Howlin' Rain, but I had just played a few 6 Organs albums back to back, so the transition from "Luminous Night" to "Ascent" wasn't smooth. The jury's out basically. I'm steal dealing with the new Godspeed. Mladic just slays me. I think it might be my favourite track of theirs.

I haven't seen that one myself. I really like "Au Hasard Balthazar" and "The Trial of Joan of Arc". Yep, enjoying the new Godspeed immensely. On the first few listens I'm hearing a stronger kraut-rock influence than before, and it's definitely more joyous than Yanqui. I don't study in any way connected to academic institutions but I have academic interests, the history of the English language, landscape and folklore, that kind of thing. You're studying philosophy right? What are you currently excited about in philosophy?

I find myself re-reading more these days. The way I see it is if an author has put in the hard work, it's worth it and stands up to it. I get the same thrill from hearing a great song again, as I do from reading a great passage in a book. I like Tarkovsky a lot. Stalker, Nostalghia, Mirror and Andrei Rublev are firm favourites. I don't get on so well with The Sacrifice. Have you seen any of Konstantin Lopushansky's films? I want to see The Turin Horse, I'll pick that up on blu-ray. What Bresson did you watch?

Yeah, I thought it best to wait, they always put a lot of effort into the artwork etc. I've never attempted War and Peace, not sure if I ever will. I've read Tolstoy's Confession and "The Kingdom of God is Within You" but none of his fiction. I'm re-reading Boneland by Alan Garner at the moment, over the past couple of months I re-read all of his novels in anticipation of it's release. It's a sequel (of sorts) to a couple of books he wrote in the early sixties and it has really blown my mind. My partner is keen for me to read "The Secret History" by Donna Tartt so I'm going to start that this week. What do you like film wise?

I have the new Godspeed on pre-order and am eagerly awaiting it's arrival. I'm not checking out the leaks, just going to appreciate the whole package when it drops. I bought the Blood, Sweat and Vinyl documentary recently, purely because it has a feature on Constellation and Neurot Recordings. It has a nice candid interview with Efrim and Jessica from ASMZ amongst others. Check that out too. I was checking out the Godspeed page on last fm minutes before you posted on my wall. Too much idiocy there to even attempt to engage with, but I liked some of your comments. Do you read much?

I think Rouge is the best of the trilogy and possibly his masterpiece, an amazing swan song for sure. Both Kieslowski and Tarkovsky are really unique filmmakers , which is the main reason why are they so acclaimed and influential, so it's hard to recommend similar directors. There is the typical Kubrick, who loved both, Terrence Malick and his talented protege, Andrew Dominik. Internationally, there is Michael Haneke, Abbas Kiarostami and Yasujiro Ozu and older, Luis Buñuel and Michelangelo Antonioni. All of them are... cinematic philosophers

Yeah I like both. Hawtin is more talented and varied in all of the projects he's released, mixing dark ambient with minimal and acid techno providing exceptional results, though unfortunately part of such projects feel dated and overlong nowadays, it all depends on the mood.

That'll probably be the next one I check out. I haven't found a Branca release I haven't liked yet

Among the merch he sold some record of an Italian Black Metal band that he just released on his new label (http://obscureorigins.org/) and said that he and Chris Brokaw (the drummer) were quite into Black Metal since a few years (you can even see him wearing a Von shirt in some of the newer Codeine pictures here on lastfm). He said that he really enjoys that kind of raw, minimalist Black Metal, things he mentioned included for example old Darkthrone, Paysage d'Hiver, Bone Awl and Von.
