Yeah. I like the beard as well, but Conchita did have the best song. It's called: Eurovision "Song" Contest, therefore I voted for the song.

I am by no means belittling the butter churning, but I ADORE the song! Such a lovely little earworm it is. "We are Slavic" is genuinely my biggest jam this year. Conchita and Sanna sang the shit out of all other Eurovision competitors, yes. Still, Poland's entry is what I listen to when I want to get down. Is it just me, or did people generally like the show more than the actual music this year? I've been hearing bad stuff about Austria's SONG for example from "regular human beings" (AKA "non-ESC fans").

Yes, agreed!! It feels like the first time my eurovision votes actually were worthwhile. And you lucky Finns got your best result since Lordi! And Sanna Nielsen came third! The biggest peeve about the results for me was Poland's placing, but I was afraid that the juries would sink the beautiful big-breasted slavic women already in the semi. 14th really isn't that bad after all!

Eurovision happened. Are you happy about it? Cuz I'm pretty happy. The right song, singer, and performance won! I had the honour of watching a rehearsal of the final live in Copenhagen actually, and I can tell you that Conchita even more amazing live.

At least listen to "Kuka sen opettaa" (the song). It's awesome, trust me. Also, Christopher? I remember that Danish lad from like two years ago. Did I like him? En muistan. It doesn't matter as long as Anna's new material turns out good! Wait, will they sing together? I guess we'll see.

Speaking of people who are on fire: can we talk about Kaija Koo? I mean, whoa, homegirl is as old as my mom but still slaying! Seriously though, Kuka Sen Opettaa is a fantabulous album, and the title track is literally the best thing right now. I live for those kind of "F you, I'mma be better of without you"-empowerment jams. Irti (her previous album) was slightly too dull for me, while this one is an even combination of old, new, and strangeness (talkin' 'bout "Muuttunut mies, muuttunut nainen"...). Are you tired of Kaija Koo since she's been a singer for, like, 40 years? ;-)

Huomein on huomenna!! Now THAT is a great song! :D I watched that video and was like: "DAYUM, SHE IS ON FIRE". Anna looked amazing tbh! And yes, she does sound better in Finnish (not keen on her latino music tho). That song made me expect a language change on Anna's part. Doesn't seem to be the case, but one can always dream. Her Vain Elämää stuff was an interesting intermission. At any rate, I want a release date for Anna's damn upcoming album that was supposed to be released last year...!

How do you feel about Anna Abreu's new single? I have mixed feelings atm. This is something I've been waiting for quite a while, but it's not at all what I expected, so I'm just like...??? The song is kinda trashy, especially the hook? Most people probably never perceived Anna as the most profound artist, but I always thought at least that her lyrics were pretty clever. Hope that Anna hasn't forsaken her old style completely. I need more music to form an opinion on her new image!

Rise like a phoenix is FAAAB! Easily grabbed a spot in my top five (together with Silent Storm, Norway and Austria have the most charismatic singers this year Imo). Albania dropped out of there since they translated it to English (people who are not fluent in English shouldn't sing in English!!), but Iceland on the other hand went UP UP UP in placings after the translation. I didn't know they actually had something reasonable to say... The lyrics in No Prejudice are on point and the song overall is groovy as frick, me gusta.

Valentina Monetta's entry is out (I'm not even going to refer to San Marino as San Marino; Valentina Monetta has obviously hijacked the television broadcaster and seized control over the entire nation)! Sounds very... Italian. Like waltz, almost. It feels sophisticated. Is that good? I'm not sure, I wasn't as mesmerised by this as I was by "Vola" last year. I sincerely hope that "Maybe" can reach the final though. This is Valentina's third ESC-attempt in a row, and we'll never get rid of her if she doesn't get into the top 10!

Hmm, I actually used to listen to some modern country a few years back. Not as much now, but I currently love Carrie Underwood ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-uothzTaaQ ). She's awesome, even if a lot of her music is more poppy than countryish (wait, that's not a bad thing when I think about it...).

The Netherlands song was underwhelming, I might add while I'm at it. I had hoped for more since I've heard nice tracks for Ilse DeLange before. Calm before the storm has the "calm" bit, but no sort of exciting storm to shake things up.

I kinda dig Belarus. I used to at least. Their entry has gone down in rankings for me since we got better songs selected. And I don't even like cheesecake really! I LOVE cheese, and I can appreciate a decent cake, but not together for some reason.

My initial reaction to almost all eurovision entries this year has been "LAME!!", but there are some gems in the running! I like: Sweden (gigantic fav obvi), Israel (singer is fierce + THAT BEAT, in Swedish I would say it's "tungt" or "fett"), Poland (simple but catchy, also lewd, which always works for me), Albania (no one seems to like it but I swear, I have a divine connection with this song). Do not like at all: Latvia (CREEPIEST SONG EVER HANDS DOWN THEY LOOK LIKE FELONS). On a different note; will Valentina Monetta ever make it to the final? :p

ADHDish! LOL, is that the correct adjective form? Hehe, anyhow; Ammotrack and Ellinore Holmer. I don't even want to think about those to acts tbh. Pointless trash-rock and an uneventful ditty, not much to say about that. I would rather have seen anyone else in the bottom four of the fourth semi to qualify in their place!

Well, if I got to decide, Anton wouldn't even have made it past the semi in the first place. :P The biggest question mark of the whole year for me was why Linda Bengtzing came 5th (!?) in her semi... Shirley Clamp tried to update her sound, and she ended with 100% majestic key change and 0% song, but Linda... She literally SLAYED Imo. Her performance was like a monster truck and she just crushed all competition with her energy. The song also had loads of power + the coolest breakdown of the year in any category. A bunch of people seem to dislike her all of a sudden for unknown reasons though. Where do you stand on this issue?

I also loved Helena Paparizou, Ellen Benediktson, and Ace Wilder! The final was great! Any of those winning would also have made me estatic. I voted for Ellen, since she was the most hopeless out of the four. I'm glad she didn't come last! But what happened to Anton though? He wasn't that bad, was he?

YES. FOR ONCE, I AM 100% CONTENT. Sanna deserved this. So. Much!! She has struggled for a MF victory since 2003 and she finally does it. With a contemporary song that also has a chance of winnig ESC, to boot! I screamed like a madman and fell to the floor when her victory was announced. Sweden will definitely be my favourite in eurovision this year. The song is stellar and Sanna always delivers vocally.

It will definitely be in the beginning of july. I don't know the exact dates, though. Just now I'm planning my tour in Sweden and that comes right before Finland... so I guess I'll know soon.

Lol, I'd rather die than have a 12 hours trip (again). If I decide to go to Rovaniemi I'll definitely stop on the way in little towns or cities. I just realized that I misspelt "Rovaniemi" in all my other posts. ::sigh:: Hey! Thanks =)

Nope. I found the blog where I saw this cool place in Lappi and it's like a farm located in the surrounds of Romaniemi and it's part of a tour. Well, wathever...

wow, you lived in Savonlinna? You're such a lucky boy! It looks god damn beautiful in the pictures I've seen. There was a town or city in Lappi where sami people do sami things and it's very turistic and I thought it was Romaniemi, but maybe I was wrong. I guess I'll have to find it out. And yeah, of course I'll visit Helsinki and stay a couple days! Can't miss the capital city of Finland!

Hi! I'm sorry to bother you, but I need an advise. So well, in late june or early july I'll be heading to Finland. No reason in particular... I just always dreamed with visiting your country. Anyways, I have some places to visit in mind, like Romaniemi, Kuopio, Savonlinna and obviously Helsinki. I haven't started the real planning yet, but I don't know... I guess I would like to have an advice from someone who lives there about what places are really cool/beautiful to visit. Thanks for your time ;)

Hayao Miyazaki! I've heard a lot about him, but I've only watched "Spirited Away"... Would you recommend any of his other movies?

Ah, yes, the glory days of Japanese culture! Anime, manga, J-Pop and Japanese stuff in general was an immensely big deal in Sweden back in the day. That craze has died down now (unfortunately?), and I don't think Yohio is going to revive it by himself, but he has proved that Japan still can draw some attention. I never got into the music myself, although I have read/watched my fair share of manga/anime. OK, confession time: I watched over 500 episodes of Naruto... That obviously took a lot of invaluable time, but it was a special period in my life. ;-)

Yohio is different (by Swedish standards). I appreciated him last year, cuz' he was a one of a kind back then and his song was quite nice. The element of surprise is completely gone this year though, and the song he has now gets on my nerves. Another link for Helena's entry btw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7lbktrwAl4

I agree, there should be a Finnish jury in MF! If Norway gets a jury, then why shouldn't Finland get one? It would only be fair. Finns are the biggest immigrant group over here, for example. If one country deserves a jury in MF, it's definitely Finland! :D
