It just takes you loads of places you'd never see otherwise I guess. Though I did question my sanity at about 8 o clock last night while running round Dechmont Law in Livingston with a headlight strapped to my head in a hurricane.

Indeed, it's a bit of an acquired taste. I sometimes think I should dance more and run less but then it always seems worth it in the end.

You get a map at the start and you have to race round a series of marked points, picking your route and running pretty hard the whole time through forests and moors and marshes and whatever else they throw in your way. It's pretty hard work.

Your poor brain will boggle even more most likely when I tell you I'm an orienteer. That doesn't mean I walk around muddy fields with a thermos and a bobble hat mind you.

I am an athlete, but I don't partake in any kind of traditional athletics.

Track and field? Goodness no.
