Hey, since you're the top Cardiacs listener in my friends list, I direct this question at you: which album do you think is their best? Personally I've fallen in love with Sing to God, and I don't like the earlier, more psychedelic stuff nearly as much, though a lot of people seem to like it more (judging by Progarchives reviews). I'd have thought Sing to God should appeal to progheads more... Anyway, what do you think?

"Ceremony" by Anna von Hausswolff is a strong album. Organ is a special instrument, very difficult, yet beautiful. This album reminded me of Kate Bush, which is great singer-songwriter too. Now Postures. Postures are very bright; their songs are full of colors and emotions. I've really fell in love with this one. Finally, "Swim" by Blue Cranes. You've described them accurately, the album is relaxing, gentle and lively. Thank you for these great recommendations.

Hey sorry it took so long to get back to you, I was on holiday at the time and didn't want to type a whole response on my phone. I really like their album "From The Witchwood". It's the one I started on and has some of their more famous pieces. If you like Strawbs you should be sure to check out some other Progressive Folk bands like Gryphon, Comus, and Renaissance. Jethro Tull and Barclay James Harvest also have some similar stuff.

We got a plug.dj room up for prog music. Go to http://www.plug.dj/progrocka/ if you want to join in. Its a virtual music sharing site where you can pick youtube vids to play to the room or just listen. Anything prog related is ok to play. Am sending this to friends and near neighbours only. If you like the music room spread the word to your friends ;)

Nice to see you getting into Frank Zappa. I suggest trying 'Hot Rats', 'Joe's Garage', 'Chunga's Revenge', and 'Jazz from Hell' if you wanna go deeper down the rabbit hole of his work!

You were thinking right! Godbluff is often considered their best album, and it's my personal favorite, I started with it, and I was blown away instantaneously! Well, you could also try H to He, Who am the Only One (it's a great place to start with the band, because right from the beginning it contains two very memorable songs) or Still Life, which is a continuation of the creative burst which started with Godbluff, it was in fact released within a year of the release of Godbluff and is also considered a masterpiece. This is one of my favorite songs of theirs, a track from Godbluff and a perfect live performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3VQlMfCp8E&feature=fvst, if you like it, get Godbluff!

I see you're trying out Van der Graaf Generator! Tell what you think when you form an impression of them.
