Hmm, have you seen anything by Yoshishige Yoshida? He's probably my favorite Japanese director from that time, Heroic Purgatory is my fave. Another favorite is Nanami: The Inferno of First Love. None of those films are exactly like Funeral Parade... or Woman in the Dunes perhaps, but then again, those two films are quite different from each other as well. It's amazing stuff nonetheless.

Possession is easily one of my favorites as well. The first time I watched it was one of those truly mindblowing film experiences. Yeah Adjani is, well, totally possessed. Of your other pics especially Harakiri, Funeral Parade of Roses and Woman in the Dunes are among my very favorites. The Japanese New Wave was the shit, as they say.

thank god, HBO trusts David Simon and lets him do his thing. If I remember correctly The Wire could have been cancelled a couple of times before season five. This time round they supposedly have given him more freedom.

Hey, bro, how do you like the third season of Treme so far? In my opinion, this is the best season yet story-wise. The first two ones didn't seem so captivating to me.

Just finished the second season of Treme. I really felt good for Antoine leading the kids to play on a corner, LaDonna getting her groove back and Sonny turning out to be a likeable guy. I love how when watching the first season Simon made us not believe Sonny's stories, yet it turns out that the dude really did save lives. I feel bad for disliking him during the first season, in which he was a jackass though.

The moment I found out that the story of episode 9 is by George Pelecanos, I know this won't end well. So when Harley and Annie set off in the dark I had a feeling that this is a Pelecanos death scene. I don't want to be a jackass, but the death of Harley doesn't bother me as much as the struggle of Antoine's and Davis's bands. Not to mention LaDonna and everybody else in New Orleans who is having a tough time. I don't know how I feel about the character of Nelson though. Two episodes to go...
