Today is your 6th LASTFM ANNIVERSARY :-) ... Congrats, Fergus! ... Looking back - how did your "musical exploration" evolve? ... Wishing all the best for your **87k scrobbles milestone** ... Let me present this song (youtube) to your "birthday": (A) ... How I came by your profile? ... I am visiting members of the old musicology group... (A): genre: minimal/experimental -> 14th track, from album ('piano edition (2nd album)'): ... I absolutely hate the last.fm redesign. The sidebar I customized is gone, my journals are gone, links to groups are gone, the page showing what albums I've listened to this month is gone. The top artists section shows fewer artists. My avatar is cropped into a circle. Nothing about this new design is better.

To reply to your question on scrobbling on the "recommend an album" thread, I imported my iTunes plays to the site, so it's about 6 years worth of listening data. It's just that last.fm doesn't reflect that. Anyways, thank you for the recommendation.

Thanks for your recommendations (Jean Michel Jarre and David Brubeck). Not a big fan of Jarre but Time Out is an album I've had for some time. I have played it but because of problems with scrobbling it never got registered. Great album though. Cheers for the documentary link as well. Never knew who Faubus was!

... And here's a present for you: this wavegraph of your music history shows your top100 artists over 2 years. I can see about 3 phases in your history where your artists shifted. What do you think? Any feedback is appreciated.

I changed my mind about double scrobbling classical music from my MP3 player. It would throw off my tag cloud, making it appear that I'm listening to more classical music than I really am. So I'll mainly go with whoever I think is more important, the composer or the performer. For the Bach I recently played, I removed scrobbles for Glenn Gould and Canadian Brass.

Hey, thanks for your recommendation! I gave a listen to some pieces from Windham Hill Sampler and even though the composition was a bit too generic and friendly for my taste at the same time I found this music very calming. Have a nice day!

When I scrobble from my MP3 player, I can edit the log before sending it. I have usually just edited out podcasts. But now I have begun to scrobble classical music twice, once under the composer's name and once under the performer's name. This will inflate my scrobble count, but it will better represent the composers and performers I listen to.

Hey, thanks for the recommendation. Actually just earlier today I realized I should get more songs by Yes in my library.

hi, i've listened to Django Bates, i'd rate the album with a 7/10, he's really good, so are the songs, the only thing i didn't like is the production, after the first 30 seconds, i've already got the idea of what kind of stuff i was going to hear, regardless of the songs. have a nice time

Hey, Fergus. Just wanted to stop by and let you know that I came across one of your journals (on Google of all places) and really appreciated your in-depth taste analysis (and the other two journals as well). A lot of your sensibilities were strikingly similar to mine- which is incredibly rare, even here on last.fm. Not every day that happens. Anyway, happy listening :)

Here's an odd coincidence. Today I tracked down a song I liked from a commercial. The song is [track artist=Skylar Grey]Coming Home - Part II[/track] by [artist]Skylar Grey[/artist]. I already knew who Skylar Grey was, because I once heard another song I really liked by her in a video featuring SNSD members instead of her, and I looked up who the actual artist was. But that was before I joined last.fm, and I hadn't yet scrobbled anything by Skylar Grey. But yesterday, I listened to an artist named [artist]Holly Brook[/artist], who was recommended to me by the last.fm app in Spotify, and I liked her so much, I listened to her other album tonight. It turns out that Holly Brook is Skylar Grey. I double-checked to make sure it wasn't the case of two people with the same name. Holly Brook's debut album is credited to Skylar Grey, and apart from a change in style, they look alike.

I listened to Hearts of Space on the radio tonight, then went to the hos.com website for the playlist, which I copied track by track to Universal Scrobbler. Now it will be even easier to follow up on the artists I hear on this program.
