I discovered sweet valley in mid 2023. It totally opened me to a whole new world of music. Definitely one of the best band I know (they took half of my 2024 scrobbles). I recently answered to a twelve years old comment under one of their tune on YouTube, who was asking for a sample. I answered 12 years later, lad was surprise :D Was funny. Hope SV releases more tunes, even though I doubt it's going to happen in the near future.

lol, great story. i also feel like they introduced me to plunderphonics which I got really into after hearing them. i remember being really excited when sweet valley 2 dropped and I raced to submit all the samples I could find to whosampled.

Yeah. Nowadays SV have way les attention on their new albums (that are neither hip-hop like Jenova or Etenral Champ nor electronic like So Serene). Submitting samples literally takes 10 months. But how do you know all the samples music wise? For voice samples it's pretty easy, just have to search for it, and sometimes dig more in like movie subtitles database, but how come people find melodies? Do you just know every music?

for melodies its mostly just recognizing the songs. some melodies you can shazam and some of my whosampled submissions were connections pointed out in youtube comments or whatever but yeah usually just recognizing popular or often-sampled artists or songs.
