So hard to know anything for sure about The Residents, I'm afraid most, if not all the information we have about the band and its members is false. Made-up stories to present whatever picture they choose to present, while cloaking themselves in a mysterious hidden world. It's part of the appeal; the band living in complete anonymity, and with each album/project/concert tour giving the fans only just a brief glimpse into the bizarre and insane world that is The Residents. There is one guy, his voice is unmistakable, I believe he is really the only constant within the band. He has been there since the beginning and is always the lead voice. I’m sure there have been others that have stayed for a time but it is clear that through the years the members have come and gone. I have read that the female members that you refer to are the daughter(s) of some of the original band members but this too could be just another rumor.

With regard to Zappa or Claypool, do you really believe that either of these talents could be hidden in such a band as The Residents? I think you would agree they would both stick-out quite obviously. The Beatles . . . please. GREAT QUESTION
