Yeah! He's given me a song to put out on a comp I'm doing! Super excited, I'll send you a copy when it's done. April! I am in the middle of reading a book about New York's mid seventies music scene and I just hit the end of '76, and it pretty much ended in a giant description of the premiere performance of Einstein on the Beach in NY. I was grinning like a fool the entire time, and it made me so eager for fall to come, cause I gotta go. I have to go to that.

Duuude though you're listening to a lot of Apples. My friend Matt is getting his album produced by Rob Schnieder and some of the songs are being filtered through a tube amp that was used on Aeroplane. Super cool stuff.

Completely. it will work itself out. Does my old profile pic remind you of the good old days when I had the lincoln beard? Cause I totally feel a bit back in college posting these shouts.

Hey, are you listening to Rochester's own The Demos? Did you discover them on Tympanogram?

See that is a mistake there. Keeping up the FF is a rewarding activity. They have so many wild ideas. While they don't always follow through on all of them, most work out pretty well. I'm always a bit puzzled with P4Ks year end list. BTW Owen has released a free demo EP. I haven't DL'd it yet, but I heard it has an awesome song with Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond). Shara is playing solo @ Bugjar the end of this month! I am definitely going to that one. With that powerful voice she could probably fill the BugJar without amplification.

Yeah, RYM has developed a strange pro-metal skew over the last 3 or so years. A strange trend that I mostly blame on the Scandinavian members. Yeah, Deerhoof takes experience and conditioning, but this guys seems to dig less "obvious" things. Maybe I should move him onto the Fiery Furnaces. Speaking of whom, did you know that Matt Friedburger is releasing 8 albums this year on a subscription basis? Apparently each one focuses on a single solo instrument. The first two are the piano and guitar records, what else does he have planned? I can't wait to see what that is all about.

Sure thing, just glad the DL's can go to someone who appreciates good music...wait a second, are you listening to Slayer, right now? I'll take the downloads back please. (just kidding of course). Odd side story, I got some middle aged dude at work interested in Deerhoof recently, pretty random. I guess you are back in school by now, hope the semester is going well!

I think I'll get two DL cards since I got the shirt and LP, you could have one of those if you want to be legit. I don't know Clues, are they good stuff? It's amazing how good Dundee tastes for a product that starts in the Genesee river.

BTW: just got shipment notice of the new Deerhoof record. I have MP3s in hand, but I'm gonna wait for the vinyl and do this right...

Haha, yeah on Heartbeat. I feel like, as with Hot Chip that "Being Ridiculous" is part of what Islands does, so I'll give them a pass.

Exactly, the auto-tune part kills me. There is no such thing as a good use of that technology. Sufjan will regret that decision in 5-10 years, because it will really date an otherwise timeless and amazing album. I haven't been to either exhibit yet. I'm definitely hitting up the psych exhibit soon (this weekend is the last chance I guess). I have off tomorrow and don't really have any plans for the long weekend, so I'll have plenty of opportunity to check it out. Let me know if you are interested in meeting up for it.

I didn't make it out to the Stars show unfortunately. I was in the mood for a quiet evening at home. I actually have the BQE film, it was packaged with the CD version of the album. It's mostly footage of traffic shot on 8mm, but it manages to be more interesting than that description would make it seem. I can loan it to you sometime, or could host a screening on my monstrous TV.

So what is the best Patrick Wolf entry point? I was intrigued by what you played the other night, I'm thinking of DLing one his records. What did you think of the BQE? I really like movements III-V.

haha, I just noticed you are listening to the last song on Peter Gabriel [1] while I listen to the first song on Peter Gabriel [2], that is a weird coincidence.

Haha, I think I have that one on vinyl and CD. I guess that makes me an uber-nerd. The UK was great (and surprisingly sunny!). So you have a trip home set up, thats great. Looks like you will be back in time for Tokyo Police Club. I'm really looking forward to that, you still planning on going?

Hey there. So no I have not heard of them. I don't actually live IN LA. I live about an hour east of there. I go there to see shows and family. I did look them up though. If I ever do see that they are playing I will DEFINITELY see them. Good stuff. That Pains show should be awesome . Good for you. How is it there in Rochester? Are you far enough from the big apple so you can have a little sanity?.......................

Haha, you'll love Lab Partners. They opened for the double once and they're an extremely noisy bunch.
