Grats on finishing the Diss! Must be nice to be free for a change?! I have to say that it's beautiful here- especially right now. I was just having breakfast out in the sunshine on the deck. But I sadly have to go to work =P And sadly all this wine country around here- it's just terrible!!! LOL (( so why no more flat?))

"Have a nice one"?!! A nice what? A nice girlfriend? From Scotland? With pleasure. I'd like to live there. I can't stand the French, or the Parisians, there has to be a difference between these 2 notions. Serge.

Hey there! Well it's about the same here but it becomes cool every evening as the sun sets... so it's been beautiful and sunny and then cool evenings to sleep =) I was not sure when you'd be back so I have not written. I just had a special deal on Ravenswood! 4 bottles only $20! with a carrying tray! most bottles are that or more for 1, so it's a great sale. Also been trying some "Meritage"- you'd be swimming in the deep lush flavors and the jammy fruits that fill the mouth and then linger ^.^ Mmmm.

I took the survey. I just wanted to let you know that I mostly use last.fm for promoting my own music 9band + side projects). I also believe there is a HUGE difference between owning digital files and physical property and your survey seemed to clump those together.

Hi Daniel! Just finished your survey! Hope it can help you, and maybe "guide" (or at least erase some -in my opinion/personal experience- misconceptions) 'bout the streaming music, and the universe of "physical media", illegal downloads and all that stuff... Needing any further help or other surveys (I like to participate), just call me! Have a nice week Hugs from Brazil BG

I thought you lived in Glasgow?! The quality is not good enough for classical music (even the audio quality of a mini disc is 1/10th of a CD!! Many people don't even know that. So 9/10 th of the information of the audio signal is lost! 10 years ago some people were talking of a new algorythm which would have reduced the discrepancy to a loss of 1/7th of the signal. MP3 is 1/15th of a CD!! As to now, I don't know. You will have to tell me about it.). As to buying or not buying, it depends: if everything that is out is on Last.fm immediatly, then I will reconsider the options I have, of course. Moreover if it is on Last.fm with the same audio quality as on a CD! SACD? Most CDs are hybrid now. I don't think there is any SACD out without the possibility to play it on a normal CD player. Scotland? Well, unlike many of your people, I love the rain!! Serge.

I miss Scotland already. I have been there 4 times, and the last time I stayed and toured again Scotland with my car almost 2 months. The impact of Last.fm on me? Well I wonder if I need to buy any new CD now. So maybe I should get rid of my huge collection of CDs, who knows. What's the benefit of it? The sound quality of my CDs against the poor but quite acceptable quality of the MP3 files? For classical music, CDs are better certainly. If Last.FM was broadcasting FLAC files, then the problem would be over. Unless I buy a SACD player that are no longer being sold apparently. Or am I wrong? All the best. Serge.

Thanks for letting me know about your survey, it was a pleasure to fill it in. Good luck with the thesis, I'm looking forward to seeing the results. Schönes Wochenende! =)

Hi... I wanted to comment re: your survey that although I was never a big music-buyer (low-income person), I have always accessed music through sharing-- in my youth it was "mixed tapes" and cassette copies of the recordings people who could afford them had purchased. With a subscription service, I feel less guilty to enjoy music I can't afford to buy... and actual probably buy mostly stuff I am exposed to through the service instead of through radio or friends' collections, as before. thanks!

Did your test. Kinda fun still some questions lack more open-ended solutions. For exemple, I was bugged that I was forced to answer (for the sake of truth) "I'm still gonna download" while the only things I keep downloading are the things unavailable on the streaming services you were talking about two questions earlier. Now that Spotify exist, WHO in their right mind would waste time downloading music? And at the same time, if I can't get my daily fix of [artist]World's End Girlfriend[/artist] (okay I had nothing more obscure in mind) and my local retailer don't have it either,... Well I think that aspect was overlooked in your survey. Anyway, good luck :)
