Hey ;) Haven't forgotten about your shout. Cain's Offering didn't do much for me, liked about four Sonata ripoff tracks and that's it. Civil War still sounds much better than the debut and I'm quite used to his vox so it goes super smooth. Cradle is an even bigger surprise - if memory serves me well, we've discussed their recent releases and none of us was overly happy with them. The new one, however, is their best since Godspeed and offers a great reverie to their older days, mostly due to the immense guitar work and tight melodies. Sounds as if Paul is still there but on steroids, haha. To be honest, I don't even know who the new guys are, not to mention their past bands. Gotta read more about that. Overall, the record resonates with old CoF vibes, thankfully not in an archaic way. Sounds like a full package and there's not a single tune I'd like to drop. Did you like the single?

They're both good but I barely had the time for continuous spins. Next week, perhaps. Crapload of tests and trips atm. Mastodon is cool even from a non-fan point of view. More progressive but when they go for catchy stuff, it's damn contagious! Belphegor has one of the best recent productions and the music is tight as hell but I had to get used to the vocals - apparently he underwent a serious surgery and the voice is more high-pitched this time around. I definitely prefer his deep infernal growls but we have to deal with what we have now.

Not much, to be frank. Which is weird, considering this year's album density. But let's see... Opeth surprised me the most, it's something that I can finally listen to, really immerse. Other than that.. Shores of Null, the best debut I've heard lately. Tuomas Holopainen's solo stuff. Deathstars. Then there's Delain, WT, Diabulus in Musica and Epica from the female front but the latter is kinda too long and losing it after some point. The same goes for Elvenking who finally wrote some good music but the vocals and length are disappointing. Loved Vader, some shimmering brutality on that one, definitely a step up for them. SepticFlesh grows with time. There are the obligatory letdowns but at least Empyrium and The Foreshadowing will make up for that.

Mmmyeah. LHP and Clandestine are incredible. Then it kinda went down the drain... they have their lucid moments but nothing really serious. How's Carcass to you?

Enslaved was just added to the line-up of one of the commercial festivals. I already decided I'll attend because Rammstein is headlining but this is one hell of a cool surprise.

MPE - a solid comeback, it has everything to bring 'em back into the game. I'm not quite happy with the production overall, but the quality is there. Destruction is good as well and much, MUCH better than their previous output. But if you want top-notch thrash, I highly recommend [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbyeW_sC-WA]this[/url]. Granted you don't mind German lyrics.

Hmm, haven't listened to the albums but I trust your judgement. Let's see...

Yeah. There were 2-3 songs on Darkly which were really cool but the rest didn't get to me all that much. Problem is that I can't even say the same when it comes to Manticore... and what's worse, at times I feel like forcing myself to listen to that record which is never a good thing.

I don't know, their music is somewhat elusive and depending on the mood but I'll give the album a spin. Actually liked Scott Kelly's new solo record quite a lot and that's a nice starting point for Honor Found in Decay.

Yes, I remember their debut. Was a solid one but somehow it didn't strike me as something I'd spin continuously. That said, it's definitely good for what it is, I'd give 'em that.
