In general. If you mean was the danger real to the broader society then probably not. I'm not sure high art movements have much sway in the broader sociopolitical landscape. The danger was certainly real the the artist who produced it.

In a way its a great situation, the definition of post modern really. The largest, and arguably greatest, modern art exhibition was put on by a fascist government to tell the public why it was wrong and then burn it all. Even the layout was this sort of chaotic aesthetic with derogatory labels. I mean, besides the very real danger, how could you feel better about yourself as an artist? You certainly will never be more "dangerous".

Art with some level of abstraction is vogue, which is degenerate, and almost all pop art has "negro influences" which was also opposed. I'm sure he may like some modern architecture, particularly that of the state, and he might like some neo classical stuff or opera, and ironically would have enjoyed socialist realism. But that's about it.

I'll have to think about that. To be honest, I've always been a bit skeptical about the impact on sound by just changing cables. But I'm willing to be proven otherwise. My headamp is the Lehmann Rhinelander, it is actually the model (the black cube linear as well) that's always been presented together with the Sennheiser's (HD 650 and 800). Can't tell you if that's marketing technique or really valuable info, at least I find them to be very pleasantly sounding together, especially in terms of preciseness of kick drums and basses. HD 800 would be a serious alternative not only for the extremely detailed presentation but for the wider staging. That aspect always bugged me with my HD 650, as natural and precise it may be sounding, you always knew you were wearing a pair of headphones due to "in-your-head"-localization. Well, apart from that I'll have to update my electronics and my rack in the foreseeable future, all gotten a bit oldschool over the years. :-D Thanks for the compliment.

I know Project components, they sound very good at a reasonable price. I got myself a D/A Converter from Project a year ago, to assure better source quality for my headamp/headphones when listening through macbook. Audioadvisor has a lot of nice products listed on their site, but I guess shipping to germany would come as expensive as buying the whole inventory. :-D I'm still hesitating on whether I really need to upgrade from Sennheiser HD 650 to HD 800 or not, though.

Where d'you get your Hifi-Rack from? Looks pretty cool. Is that a Project Turntable?

I'm afraid that my jazz collection - yet still pretty tiny - consists only of CDs (except for "Kind of Blue", but I seriously doubt that you're missing on this one, right? ;-P).
