Great Library, and extra kudos for Television's Marquee Moon being one of Your Top Albums for 2016

Kein Problem! Glad you liked it. Yeah actually Wipeout 2097 is what got me into electronic music in the first place heh. It wasn't the first electronic music I had ever heard, but it made me want to hear more so I started buying CDs from some of the artists on the soundtrack and went on from there really. Do you like the games?

Ok, I made a youtube playlist of 25 tracks for you to have a look at when you are eventually in the mood for d&b haha. You can see it [url=http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0D5AF17F579684CA]here[/url] . Hopefully you like at least 1! Feel free to let me know how you get on, even if you don't get round to it for a while :)

If You prefer smth simillar to Noisia the good way would be taste some heavy beats from Spor, Counterstrike, Teebee, Bluck Sun Empire. But if u prefer to taste smth more classic the good choice would be Shy FX, Dj Hype, Danny Byrd, Adam F, LTJ Bukem, perhaps Aphrodite. I strongly reccomend you to check also some jungle heavy classics like Omni Trio - Thru The Vibe, LTJ Bukem - Atlantis, Deep Blue - Helicopter Tune, Shy FX - Original Nuttah, Goldie - Inner City Life .. jungle beats are the roots of dnb

Sure :) There are a lot of good artists but not much of them released full albums. Spor has a lot of songs, I think you can download his discography somewhere on torrents. My fav tracks would be: Knock You Down, Hydra, The Resistance, Judderman and Aztec. Black Sun Empire has 3 full albums, definitely a must have. Ewun and Apex released a few tracks, they all are worth checking. State Of Mind - Take Control, if you like something lighter. Also a complication of a few dnb artists "Us Against The World" is amazing!

Can't say I agree with Dj Tyrant. While I think pre-Process SP is the best I still think they are a band that did not loose any integrity. They do what they want, and not what people want them to do, which is to make a Too Dark Park vol 2 or another Last Rights. That would be selling out and abandon their integrity. People may not like their newer stuff and that's fine, but they do exactly what they feel like and that's not abandoning artistic integrity, it's quite the opposite.

As for Skinny Puppy all of their albums were good until they "jumped the shark" with The Process. From that point they abandoned all artistic integrity and chose just to coast on the basis of their past catalog and reputation among the industrial community. Their new stuff is utter trash that is easily surpassed by any of their modern imitators. Stick with their early material and start with [album artist=skinny puppy]Bites and Remission[/album] the CD compilation of their first two albums/tapes. From there I would just progress chronologically through the rest of their catalog and come to appreciate the development in their sound over the years.

About the only post-industrial/electro-industrial acts that still continue to innovate and take risks are [artist]X-Marks The Pedwalk[/artist] and to a lesser extent [artist]Front Line Assembly[/artist], which is why I continue to have utmost respect for those bands. I would whole-heartedly recommend exploring the entire catalog of X-Marks the Pedwalk, one of the most under appreciated yet influential electro-industrial acts out there next to Skinny Puppy.

I used to like Wumpscut, Bunkertor & Embryodead are indeed pretty good. I think that after Wreath of Barbs Rudy just lost his edge and stopped innovating. Everything after is just following a formula and regurgitating the same song over and over. Funker Vogt fell into the same trap after Maschinezeit and Skinny Puppy has certainly suffered that problem with their new works. It is important for bands to develop their own identity and sound, but when they become constrained by that pigeonhole their quality suffers and they become a parody of themselves. It is unfortunate that practically every modern industrial act has lapsed into this behavior: Suicide Commando, Funker Vogt, :Wumpscut:, Nachtmahr & Combichrist (although I hesitate to even put them in the same category of quality as the previous bands) ALL are just pandering to their fans by clinging to the same style & sound and refusing to take risks. Taking risks is what creating art is all about.

If you read the full description of the electro-industrial tag I authored on that page ([url=http://www.last.fm/tag/electro-industrial/wiki]HERE[/url])you'll get a better description of what distinguishes the sound. :Wumpscut: is a johnny-come-lately electro-industrial act that came well after the genre was established by far more talented predecessors. Feindflug is a quite good [tag]rhythmic noise[/tag]/[tag]powernoise[/tag] band, but unfortunately their later catalog doesn't match the brilliance of their earlier works. Finally the newer FLA is certainly mainly in the electo-industrial camp, with occasional forays into industrial-rock (especially when featuring Alain Jourgensen) and electronica.

[tag]EBM[/tag] drew inspiration from more of the commercial dance aspect of the movement and while still experimental, is more focused on basic, simple song structures, strong percussion and repetitive or shouted lyrics ([artist]Front 242[/artist], [artist]Nitzer Ebb[/artist]). There is also [tag]industrial rock[/tag] which features electric guitars and more traditional rock structures ([artist]Ministry[/artist], [artist]NIN[/artist], [artist]KMFDM[/artist]).

Defining [tag]electro-industrial[/tag]? Really one must look at the origins of the genre. It came about from artists inspired by the do-it-yourself attitude & experimental sampled "found sounds" (pipes, oil drums, etc.) of the ORIGINAL industrial bands - I'm referring to the bands that were on the [url=http://www.discogs.com/label/Industrial+Records]Industrial Records[/url] label (Throbbing Gristle, ClockDVA, Cabaret Voltaire) where the term "industrial" is derived. Some artists shunned the use of old "traditional" rock instruments like guitars & drums and embraced samplers & synthesizers, focusing on the creation of music through solely electronic means, thus the term electro-industrial. The two most influential founders of this style: [artist]Skinny Puppy[/artist] & [artist]Front Line Assembly[/artist].

I think one of Hocico's best albums is [album artist=Hocico]Signos De Aberracion[/album]. It straddles the line between their old more Latin electro-thrash style and their newer club oriented style with trance/aggrotech elements. It really marked a turning point in their career. Depending on which elements you like you can either explore further back for more aggressive punk-like raw sound or more recent albums for more refined slickly produced club albums.

I'd be happy to make recommendations. I see you've already been listening to Haujobb - [album artist=haujobb]Solutions For A Small Planet[/album]. That's a good start. Such a ground breaking and innovative album. I'd check out X-Marks The Pedwalk - [album artist=x-marks the pedwalk]Meshwork[/album], another pivotal album. Pretty much set the bar for what people consider 'modern EBM' sound (although it's really [tag]electro-industrial[/tag]). Also Evils Toy - [album artist=evil's toy]XTC implant[/album], great album before they went all lame, tacky synthpop (not good like D Mode or And One).

Thanks. Good charts for you too. Especially like the high-ranking on D Mode and Joy Division. My scrobbles of them would probably be higher if I hadn't listened to their albums a frillion times before computers existed! Oh, and if my iPod would scrobble correctly more than half the time. *rage at last.fm*

I liked the concert very much and I remember I was listening to them almost 2-3 months after seeing them live. it's not that I don't like them anymore, but I listened them a lot, so I thought it would be nice to give some other artists bit of a chance :D look at my 3 months charts, man, I'm obsessed with Bowie :D
