Here's a link! It just came out this week, there is a reason that they suddenly vanished but I can't disclose it. Hopefully there will be more material but I don't know, if there is going to be it could be a while. I've been told I can spread it around so feel free to give it to whoever you like.

And since you like Tears for Fears, you might also be interested in two current bands I think take a lot of props from them, [artist]Future Unlimited[/artist] and [artist]Lovelife[/artist] (Ally Young is former member of [artist]Mirrors[/artist]). Golden, When It Calls, Love Rush, and Midnight Swimming… All great tracks, IMO. (Sorry for the wall of posts)

Seeing as you like Ice Choir, you might like Acid Reign by [artist]Violens[/artist] (or anything from their 2010 album, Amoral—It Couldn’t Be Perceived and Are You Still in the Illusion? are good also), Dancing Girl by [artist]Electro Spectre[/artist], Twin Peaks by [artist]HITS[/artist], Animalia by [artist]Voltaire Twins[/artist], Runaways by [artist]Mirror Kisses[/artist], and Crash by [artist]Low Tide Theory[/artist], to name some.

Oh wow, it’s amazing that you’ve met Curt’s brother! I’ve never been to Europe so I have to be a bit jealous of that, too. (lol) And Ice Choir… Love them. I was constantly playing The Ice Choir and Two Rings last summer, around the time of the release of their debut album. They have a sort of winter-y vibe, so it was kind of an odd thing to be playing in the summer (which really just made it all the more special!)

I have to agree with you there. I could have sworn there was talk about a new Tears for Fears album at least as far back as July or August. Guess the big announcement just made it official? Awesome charts, btw. ; )

Whoooa, that must have been awesome! Liverpool seems like a great place to visit, if I ever make it across the pond some day it's definitely on my "musical places to see" list (I'd like to waltz around Oxford and Abingdon and see if I can catch any Radiohead history too, but I somehow doubt those places are as prominent as the Beatles', haha). As for the Beatless album, it was actually released in July, I believe! I haven't heard much beyond a minute or two from it but I know it's out there, several of my friends have heard it. I don't think there's anywhere you can officially buy it digitally, but of course there are...other places.

I read in various interviews that The Ice Choir was one of the (actually, I think it was THE) first song Kurt wrote while The Depreciation Guild was still together that ended up being used for the project; I'm about 99% sure that the project's name actually comes from the song title, and not vice-versa. And I know in another interview I read that he said he started Ice Choir because those early songs weren't fitting in stylistically with The Depreciation Guild, so I assume he was at least trying it out as a Depreciation Guild song first. That kind of explains why the guitar is so prominent in the intro as opposed to the other songs on Afar.

Also, have you seen Meeks' "BEATLESS" Beatles cover album? I don't know about you but I'm a huge Beatles fan, and I listened to the first 30 seconds of that sampler video and was so impressed that I went and ordered a CD copy online. That's just such a brilliant concept, I'm hoping once the CD arrives that it'll be as well-executed as the little bit I heard!

I emailed Painted In, and much to my surprise, it's all the work of one GUY. Even the vocals. He sure had me fooled. He didn't give me his name, but based on my Bandcamp receipt, I believe it's Daniel Strauss. He said he's working on an LP but doesn't know when it will be finished, man I hope it'll be soon because I am just FLOORED by how good it is (also I hope he finishes that Dream About Me cover because I honestly think it could be better than the original).

I haven't mailed him yet but when I do I'll be sure to let you know what happens! University's going pretty decently so far, it's a bit busy and whatnot but I'm mostly having fun. I come bringing some FANTASTIC news, though—CHECK THIS GUY OUT! He said he's a solo musician from Canada and... just LISTEN to it, man! And check THIS out! And THIS, holy cow! If you like what you hear (and I think you will), you can download a few songs from his SoundCloud in high quality right here.

Well, hm. On a similar note, have you still not heard back from John DeCicco? Maybe I'll mail this other guy who has some strange DG tracks in his library, then. And sorry for the late reply but I'm moving in to my university at the end of the week, it's getting a bit busy (and exciting, and terrifying) around here.

I haven't watched YouTube playlist yet but I saw the setlist! It's so weird that they played Dream About Me, yeah. I'm guessing maybe that was just because it was the DG's signature song? I suppose it's possible that Adrian was in the band around the time Kurt was writing it, but I dunno, he left a few months before IHGJ came out and the single didn't come out until 2009, right? Weird weird weird.

That'd be so fantastic. Man, I so wish I could be there. Only a few days ago I got bored so I did some research and wrote wiki entries on the album pages for both of their LPs and Nautilus here on Last.fm, I'd like to think Kurt took notice and was like, "Hey, we should play some music." ;)

Well, the Dismemberment Plan reunited "just for a tour and some beers" and now they're back together and finishing up their fifth record, so it's possible! Curiously, Kurt says it will the 2006/2007 lineup (him/Akira Hashizume) and that it's just for fun, so I guess we'll have to see...

Sweet! Glad you liked it, I made that within the first week or so of hearing the song since I was so enraptured by it. Spirit Youth has some of my favorite songs of all times, and I prefer the ambiguity of the soundscapes, guess I'm more of a shoegaze person than 8-bit appreciation person (probably why I didn't like Endless Fantasy by Anamanaguchi). Yeah, big fan of what Kurt does and all his little side projects like Starlicker, Germans, etc. I have an edit in progress for Two Rings, but it'll take a long time to finish due to how high I set the bar for myself. :( I think I came across your channel before randomly; ever thought about doing an edit for a DG or IC song?

I'm curious as to why you rate In Her Gentle Jaws above Spirit Youth. The latter of which I think is the quintessential DG album, they really refined their sound. I liked their debut, but it's really harsh on the ears at times in terms of mix quality (even the remaster), not composition.

I thought it was pretty dang awesome! Definitely a worthy followup. I'm glad the percussion isn't paper-thin this time, but at the same time I'm kind of wondering what possessed them to put Nothing Is on there, ha. She Found Now, Who Sees You, and Wonder 2 are my favorites so far, I especially dug all the new soundscapey stuff they did with Wonder 2.
