Yeah was thinking the We Were Promised Jetpacks gig looked really good too, like half the Glasgow music scene on the line up. If Gav Prentice is playing solo does this mean Over The Wall have split? Also do you like Sharon Van Ettan? I really like her new album, worked it features Aaron and Bryce Dessner from the National, and she also did guest vocals on Hospice, thus she must be good. I wanted to go see her in Brighton but all my friends bailed at the last moment, but she is playing in Glasgow in July.

Are you going to the Malcolm Middleton gig on the 16th of June. I think I will be back just then and was looking through what decent gigs were on while I'm back before I go back the wilderness of Aberdeen where no bands ever play, or with the exception of Maybeshewill for some weird reason.

Yeah the First Four EPs box set. Tbh if you've heard/like any of Keith Morris' other stuff you'll probably be into this as it's pretty much more of the same. Not taking anything away from it though, it's definitely worth a listen. I mean it's a Keith Morris band with Raymond Pettibon artwork so you can safely guess that it sounds like proper old-school LA hardcore. In my head Jay looks more like Meatloaf but that's mainly cause of the funny way he's standing and that's what I thought at the time so it's still in my head. Aww it's nice getting proud messages from you. It's like at primary when the teachers tell you to give yourself a pat on the back and you feel stupid but somewhere inside you like the confidence boost and tiny bit or recodnition. Although you're cooler and better than any teacher so i don't feel as embarrassed about patting myself on the back. I often hold back on a certain album or artist each week so I don't seem too enthusiastic or lame over it; i'm scared i'll get into a llistening rutt and just listen to the same thing continually. But with the new Belle i've been far too excited and couldn't resist it. It still feels new and stuff and exciting. Don't worry, I've been laying off the Madonna and Rihanna, think i'll save them for the 'party' season. I've totally lost track of what gigs are going on due to an extreme lack of money (or more like an extreme abundance of peoples weddings/birthdays/other shit to go to) so i didn't actually know she was playing! now i am 'maybe' going, exciting stuff! I need to stop spending my money on beer and start spending it on going to fun things :\ Fucked Up are brilliant live! I saw them at the MBV Nightmare Before Christmas last year and at the end of the set there was a massive pile on in the middle of the venue :D i've not actually been to a proper gig in at least a month though, for shame. I keep spending all my money on ATP!

Oh God I hate The Antlers! :) The Stag & Dagger thing sounds good. I hadn't heard of it until you told me about it. Wild Beasts, Titus, and Sleigh Bells would all be worth seeing. The Sleigh Bells album is so good. Can't stop listening to it. I really like Tron by Joker, but that's it. Everything else I've heard by him sounds a bit cheap and cheesy. I'm considering going to The National in November, just need to check if a couple of people want to go. You going to Wolf Parade tomorrow night then? That one really snuck up, I forgot to buy a ticket. I've got my first exam tomorrow too, so it would've been a nice way to celebrate that being out the way.

I got the Sunny Side Up one. I quite liked them all, which was a surprise. I saw LCD Soundsystem a week before Pavement, and the shirts there were shocking. Yeah, Malkmus seemed pretty aloof. Wasn't interacting much, didn't seem too interested. But maybe that's just him, I don't really know what his stage manner is like. Bob Nastanovich looked like he was having the time of his life, especially during Unfair. They all looked like they were having fun except Malkmus, but maybe he was and that's just his way of showing it. Now I need to find some more gigs to go to, I don't have any lined up now that Pavement's been and gone!

I quite liked the setlist (but how could you go wrong? :D), but I felt the same way about the way it ended. Really put a downer on the whole thing. I bought a shirt when I was leaving and was able to walk straight up to the merch stand, which said it all IMO. Clearly a lot of people weren't impressed. I've heard it was to do with the venue though, and they asked the band to stop playing, maybe because it was 11 already or they didn't have enough time to do more songs. If that was the case one of the band or someone from the venue should've came out and explained the situation. Someone on a forum I go to picked up the setlist, and it had a second encore on it which included Box Elder, Hexx, and Here. For the most part I really enjoyed it, I just wish it hadn't ended the way it had. The band looked like they were having a blast too, which was great to see.

Yeah, I got the leak. I would've liked to hold out until the release, but I simply had to hear it. I'm waiting for Flying Lotus' Cosmogramma though. Every album is leaked now, but labels are getting better at preventing it from happening too early. Quite a few major releases (well, in our world :)) haven't leaked until the week of release, or even not at all, like the latest Four Tet album. I've never been entirely convinced with an LCD record until now. I believe he creates great songs, but not great albums. This Is Happening really is special, though (apart from the hideous Somebody's Calling Me). I was glad it was streaming now, I would've been disappointed if the gig had come round without me having heard the album. I like HEALTH, yeah. Grabbed the new song off P4K, but I haven't listened yet. And I wish I could go to RSD, but I have work and stuff. :( Get any good stuff from it today then?

Indeed it was. I don't think I can quite make a judgment on it yet. It's a shade over an hour long, and it's a lot to take in. Still, there are stand outs even on the first listen. All To All, Chase Scene, and Meet Me In The Basement are all particularly good. I'll let you know more when I've formed a more solid opinion after a few more listens. :)

Wind's Poem looks really special on vinyl, but like you I already have it on CD so I can't really justify the purchase. The only band I could justify a double vinyl/CD purchase for would be Animal Collective, really. Love 'em. None of my friends really have the same taste in music as myself, so I often used to miss gigs. Either that or I'd drag someone along who didn't know or didn't like the band. I'd feel bad about doing that so I bit the bullet and started going to gigs myself if I had to. No point missing out on bands I like. It's usually pretty awkward when you're waiting between bands (I was pretty gutted when I realised I'd arrived during the first support band), but it's not as bad as you might think. I don't think I could go to an 'event' gig at somewhere like Barrowlands or SECC myself, though. I'm going to see LCD and Pavement, but I'm going with people to those. I'd love to go to the Dinosaur Jr./Built to Spill and Wolf Parade gigs, I'll have to look into those.

I actually think Phil's a comedy genius. He seems to have a very dry sense of humour, which is right up my street. I felt so sorry for that guy near the end who felt the need to tell Phil that Sparklehorse was dead! The poor bloke must have been mortified. Saying that, I couldn't help but have a good laugh. :) I went myself like a sad git and didn't even notice the merch stand on the way in. I probably walked right past Phil without noticing him, heh. Super jealous of your friend who got the signed record! I only got to see that they had Wind's Poem and some massive version of Dawn for sale, but I already have copies of those. Really wish I'd got a proper look at the stand, but I was being moved along by the crowd. :(

I really wasn't expecting him to play the whole album, but it was great. It was much louder than I was expecting it to be, I almost jumped when Wind's Dark Poem started! I wanted to get a look at the merch, but was forced along in the crowd of people leaving. I would've liked to have picked something up though. I didn't notice the Twilight Sad people there! I saw them down in Sleazies not long ago, it was good. The Room sounds like a great night out, I definitely want to go to the next showing. :)

Amazing! I have a friend who loves bad movies as much as I do, so if I can get him to come go to Edinburgh to see it, I'll definitely go. I still haven't seen The Room yet.
