First impressions: Sky Blue's first half is too much like Epicloud for me. Second half is much more interesting, starting out with the amazing Sky Blue, now that stuff's quality. Also digging Rain City, at least the first half that actually contains music. Dark Matters sounds as layered as Decon at times, but it also means it has a lot of stuff going on at the same time. Hoping to listen to the dialogue-less version of Dark Matters to rule out which one I prefer. So far, War Princess and Earth are rocking me.

Not cool enough yet, hah! But any excuse other than "Skewl is 2 hard" wouldn't do it. I'm aiming for a degree of sorts in Electronics, im currently on my 6th semester (out of 8) and it's been the hardest one yet.

You're right. I like the direction they are taking. In the meantime, I will listen to Dead End Kings a bit more. I think it will grow big on me.

The vocals on Great Cold Distance didn't do much for me. Night Is the New Day was a lot better. I guess I should check out Dead End Kings. I hope it's more of an evolution from NitND than a "Back to the roots" effort.

You found Autotheism boring?! YAY. No I no longer feel like a bitch for disliking Koloss, LS and Epicloud. XD And clarification: I like the whole submission thing for Lucky Animals. It makes me appreciate the spirit of the song more. The song itself is still meh.

I might have to make a video about things in Devy's work that I do like so you can understand why this album is falling flat for me. xD

It will probably work better in the album than on it's own. Not "memorable" in any way, but it's fun.

I didn't hate it, but it sounded pretty much how I thought it would. But that is just one song. I am over my bitchfest from earlier this week. I have accepted that I am not of the target audience so I am just going to listen to it as I would any other album this year: with an open mind, free of of pre conceived notions and judge it fairly.

One last note: as yummy as "Grace" may sound, I feel like the fact that it sounds too close to "Stand" will always be an issue for me. "Stand" and "Praise the Lowered" tapped into a deep part of me and the fact that "Grace" doesn't at all is not something I have been able to shake.

Speaking of "Effervescent", given that it is only 44 seconds and that is all that goes on in that song, it may wind up being the one I listen to the least as the opening, just like the opening 10 seconds to "Sumeria" rubs me the wrong way. I know it sounds like I am tearing to pieces, but all in all, it may wind up being a 3.8-4.2 for me, which isn't bad at all. I just can't but feel that this just continues the meh that I have been feeling this year. And I really don't understand why everyone but me (and a couple others) is so jazzed about this record.

"More!", "Save our Now", "Hold On", "True North", "Lucky Animals" sound really generic, like something a hard rock band would do. Don't get me wrong, I really like Trapt, Breaking Benjamin and the like, but I like when they do it. His take on it so far sounds lethargic and divorced from his personality. The self-mocking element sounds like it isn't even there, and that is a big issue for me (I love the range of emotion he brings to each record). I don't like the fact that despite what the trailer suggested, not only are "Effervescent" and "Liberation" not the same song, but they are several songs apart. I don't like how "Where We Belong" ended up. I felt that the demo he had in that update video was perfect as it was. I must be the only person who doesn't want "Kingdom" on the new record (seriously, how many versions of that one song does there need to be? The Ziltuska! and Live EP versions are amazing, but now, just like "Supercrush!" and "Numbered!", I am starting to grow tired of it

Listening to Glass Cloud, on track 2. Holy fuck, if this keeps up, it may wind up within my top three with Abigail Williams and Devy. These grooves are not boring at all.
