They're completely different. Swedish, (+Norwegian and Danish, which are basically the same as Swedish, just a different pronunciation and spelling), English and German are Germanic languages and they have a lot of similarities. But Finnish is on it's own, basically... The only similar languages are Estonian and Hungarian (which really isn't similar at all, but it used to be a loooong time ago). I think our language group is called Finno-Ugric or something fancy like that.

I studied French from 2nd to 6th grade in elementary school, started English in 3rd grade and am still studying it, Swedish in 7th grade (junior high), German uhm... two weeks ago, which would be the first year of high school and Latin at the same time. I went to a language course in Germany last year, so I have a bit of a head start, I know all the basics already. Here in Finland it's pretty important to know different languages, since Finnish is such a tiny language that you can't manage with it anywhere else. Swedish is our second language and everyone here has to study it. Also, we have to learn English. French, German, Latin etc we can choose. I was tempted to try out Russian or Spanish too but I think my head's going to explode from having 4 different languages already...

I can speak Finnish, English (obviously), Swedish, a tiny bit of French (studied that for 5 years ages ago - have forgotten almost everything), German (basics, studying it currently) and Latin (currently studying also). Oh, and Mein Hertz Brennt is a really great song, too.

Rammsteinshop sells it now. but not the u.s.-site, only the european one. I live in Finland so I was lucky to get it by preordering it but lots of people didn't get theirs... if you want to get it, I'd recommend rammsteinshop. it can be a bit expensive, but it's worth it!
