Hi, getting back to you finally, I had heard of the duo Pitch Black before. 👍 Think I've listened to them in the past but it was a handful of years ago. They're on my to-listen-to list, I do dig some electronica & dub. Speaking of that I was gonna rec. Submotion Orchestra though I looked and saw you had some scrobbles, I used to be quite into them. See you have Swarms (released Old Raves End) & Clubroot in your library too, good stuff. That Blue Angel Lounge caught my eye, you've got them in your Top Tracks - will write that down. Sounds up my alley

Hey man, good to hear from you! Thanks for this shout btw, was travelling a bit last week so I had this on at one point but I didn't really focus in. Need to give it a proper listen through again but Crowhurst & Rime both stuck out to me very nicely on my distracting escapades😂. I've got a recent album to post on your profile too, I think you'll really enjoy it!

Hey man, thanks for stopping by, and thanks for the kind words! Hopefully you've seen my more recent shouts rather than my teenage "ramblings" 😅. That's a good combo of compatible artists. You listen to much Kid Cudi? I'd highly recommend his LP Passion, Pain, & Demon Slayin'. Probably some of my favourite production on any Cudi album. On the electronica side of things, I'd like to recommend you Groove Armada, especially their album Hello Country (Goodbye Nightclub). Followed back; feel free to shout any recommendations to me! 👍

Yessir. I used to listen to Kid Cudi heavily before getting on Last.FM, but it's honestly been a while since I've last put him on. I remember the last time I really listened to one of his albums in full was when a couple of the boys and I sparked up and listened to Man on the Moon III when it dropped (you should definitely check out that LP from him if you haven't already). I'll check out Passion, Pain, & Demon Slayin' though since I definitely need to get back into Cudi soon. Also holy cow, I just listened to a couple of seconds from Suntoucher and realized it's using the same sample from Jay-Z's What More Can I Say. I'm definitely sitting down and spinning Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub) in a few hours. Great rec man. I'm not sure if you've listened to Samurai Champloo Music Record: Departure from Nujabes, but it's an absolutely great record. Also, Donuts by J Dilla is a classic. And if you've heard both of those, try checking out Beauty and the Beat by Edan.

Hey, I shall check out those sometime this or next month. I don't come on here a tonne; I'm quite a fan of Bohren though listen to them infrequently. Anyway, thanks for the recommendations. Not sure if they'll be up your alley but I would like to rec. you Jakob from my country (NZ), 'Sines' & 'Solace', are their most hi-fi sounding releases though all of them are great. They're in the vein of post-rock/metal & one of the greatest bands to come out of NZ imo.

Yes he does! Ok crazy story on how I found him. GRWM girlies ✨ cos this 👇 is about 🗣️ to pop off 💅. This was like *checks scrobble history* 2008, I used to listen to music on my PSP and iPod Nano a lot. I wanted a song for every letter of the alphabet bc of the way the PSP Media player showed letter groupings but I was missing songs with the letter Q and X. So I locked in in Chemistry class cos we started learning about the periodic table and tried to find a track called Xenon thru last.fm. It was a lovely coincidence that I was into ambient/IDM and Miles wrote a song called Xenon. Lo and behold here we are 16 years on, still a fan. My claim to fame is that I was Facebook friends with him back when I used that lol. Miles is a cool guy, he does games design too under Pixeljam Studios/Pixeljam Games. Thanks for stopping by king, hope you have a good Christmas/New Year!

Maaannn Last.fm stats are a rabbit hole. I worked out that it took me roughly 30 months to go from 100k to 150k scrobbles. If I carry on at that same pace I'll reach 200k scrobbles ~Sept 2025. No rush though, I like getting there at whatever pace suits me.

Hey man, thanks for swinging by! Doing great, just real busy at the moment, music's keeping me grounded 😅. Interesting observation on our compatibility too - I think last.fm's meter is usually based off of recency in taste rather than overall compatibility. And it's true for me, I've not been listening to just electronica, I've been a bit all over the place from prog metal to gothic world music, so it would probably work to drop our compatibility! I see you've been listening to a lot of old soul music - a good friend of mine recommended Caustic Love by Paulo Nutini. Give it a listen, it's from 2014 but it's got some reminiscence of older soul styles, I reckon you'd like it 😁

Thanks!! Grimes is a real unique producer, her grace through creativity is stunning, even if I am less a fan of her more recent stuff. I did this playlist of all the songs my mind just naturally drifts towards when I'm not actively listening in day to day life, it's interesting what my mind sticks to, you might find some good mindglue tunes in here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7jsHckglnQjjKtfqaEsnNc?si=0ecde13f51a746fb

Right?? I think as we get older, more things become familiar (or we experience less novelty per day), so our perception of the passage of time might accelerate as we get older! 😬 The lesson here is to always seek new things/experiences, take a different route home from work, try that new coffee place... Time might just slow down a little more 🙏

Hey man, thanks for the shout, great taste yourself! I've been meaning to really deep dive FSOL's stuff, I just can't believe how insanely boundary pushing they still are, it's hard to keep up with all their stuff these days! I've barely scratched the surface with their From the Archives stuff man. What's your favourite album of theirs post-2010?
操作
回复
-
Kklak
That's a really tough one! Been listening to a lot of Archived 9 recently, bit more synthetic than usual FSOL but a very lush-sounding IDM. Also a big fan of E6.5, full of epic, expansive melodies, and FTA7 as well, more of a classic FSOL sound - this time in ancient deserts with dusty breakbeats. Haven't caught up on the last few years but I've seen a lot of praise for the E7 trilogy too!

man I used to have such a shitpost urge on this site, now I'm just super curious to talk to people about random stuff on this site - like I wish groups were back, and imagine if there was an instant messaging aspect to last.fm?? Or like listening rooms to listen to stuff together?? (Though I think there's some licensing issues in that somewhere 😂). And yeah I agree with you, the compatibility thing only seems to be recent stuff - there's people I have high compatibility with where we have no top artists in common and I'm like wtf? And yeah I'd so want to access a log of all my comments, just to be nostalgic over my truly edgy teenage nonsense lmao. And yeah there is quite a difference between coming on here at 13 and 19, but you've been around on here long enough to have that nostalgia!

I was too young to really appreciate the wonders of connecting with so many psyheads on here back in '08 (can't blame myself though, I was barely even a teenager so my perspectives on life were SOOOO different), but as I've become a young adult myself now it's sad to see this place dry up! Dude, that's nuts. I've always wondered where on Earth all the other Forest/Starstream/RadioIO Ambient/Waveform peeps are at! It's great to meet you, I've definitely branched beyond just the exotic electronica of Forest's magic, but that whole scene is always my home. No matter what life throws at me, when I listen to that world of music, I return home. You'd love my playlist "psyome" if you've seen my Spotify too!

Same, I'm all over the place musically (always have been) but downtemp/ambient/groove always seems to bring me back. As kids my parents played Andreas Vollenweider, Enya and Ray Lynch on cassettes in the car, must have baked in 👍 Plus my kids (oldest now 21) have always had eclectic music in their playlists as a result, walking in to their room to hear ISHQ or Lemon Jelly playing on their phone is always cool

It was a cassette from my parents that had Oxygene on one side and Equinoxe on the other that spurred my voyage into that realm of music. That and 2 other events but what's always interested me about this space is that I'm not much older than your eldest, so I only ever get to meet Forest fans a generation older than me! There's plenty on this site that listen to a lot of ambient/electronica, but yet to meet a Forest fan my age. Glad to hear you're educating them on the wonders of ambient/electronica though, I'd probably do the same if I ever go on to have my own family!

Maps makes some of the best dream pop out there imo. I explained his stuff to some friends roughly as "abstract arty pop" (with a few more stupid terms stuffed in) and after putting it on one of them said "the way you described it made it sound like we'd be listening to some awful pretentious avant-garde stuff, why didn't you just say dream pop? This guy is great!"

I discovered two of their songs through Dimension5. I had an account around ten years ago and he made futuristic electronic mixes with so many various songs. The songs Transportation Nonstop and Sky City 1000 were on the mixes. Can't remember which one I heard first. Maybe add Dimension5 too. He has a lot of stuff that you might enjoy. He's on my new profile too. I don't remember how I found Freedom Star tbh.

just read your post on the crystal method's divided by night from (almost) a decade ago - totally not late to the party. At first listen, I was a little disappointed in the entire album, but I ended up liking it a bunch. Legion of Boom is still my fav though. How bout you?

yeah I'm more of a fan of the older Crystal Method than their newer stuff, though their newer stuff is not bad at all tbh, I'm just a sucker for their breakbeat/big beat style stuff. Vegas is probably my favourite from them. If you like Legion of Boom, I'd recommend you try the album "I Choose Noise" by Hybrid, very similar vein of breakeat and big beat music but also mixed with orchestral elements and fantastic vocals. Thanks for popping by!

Well yeah, life is kicking you (in the nuts) I mean away from PC (personally last moth I spent on PC just about 4 day or so) :D Well, speaking about that HL doc movie it's basically highlighting and summing up stuff, and will be informative in case you don't constantly follow every little piece of information that suddenly appears simetimes... And I'd rather listen to Meat Beat Manifesto with Ice Cube raps on them. Actually their stuff really similar to those funky beats around Death Certificate album period.
