  Respect for reminding wipE'Out! It cOLDSTORAGE represent! There are lot's of different approaches to techno and stylistically it can vary local scenes. Detroit techno is different to Berlin techno for example but both are techno at their essence. German, Brittish, Finnish, Swedish, Portuguese, US, Polish, Ukraine etc all has their own vibes. You can also find specific styles just by adding adjective before techno (melodic, minimal, warehouse, skeletal, club, underground, bunker, industrial, atmospheric, dub... etc. Typically techno is heavily repetition oriented - usually not very vibrant with colours but has very strict sculptic-like shapes If you catch what I mean. Atleast this is my approach to what techno is. Pure energy! Check out Plastikman, Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, Stalisnav Tolkachev, Marcell Dettmann and Norbak for starters :9

  I'd still consider Underworld a techno group. And if we're going by last.fm's loose definition of "Most songs are in 4/4 time and feature time marked with bass drums on the quarter note and hi-hats every second eighth note." you could technically call all of these artists techno, at least some of their work lol

    Yeah, genre definitions can be quite vaque especially in the case of techno as many use it as an umbrella term for everything electronic/dance since those quarter note bass drums are very common, even among those artists, although I wouldn't really call them techno either lol
